Body type: Ryuuji stays pretty thin, most of his muscle being built for speed and dexterity rather than any strength.

Clothes: A black long sleeve shirt with red short sleeve shirt over it, black cargo pants, and a bright red, fingerless gloves. He also wears a pair of sports grade goggles on his head, as well as a long scarf around his neck. A belt hangs loosely around his waist, with attached pockets for various ammunition,items, and a holster for his sword.

ETC: He looks a few years younger than he is, and is often mistaken for being underage.[/u][/b]

History:

Ryuuji ran away from his home, seeing himself as a hindrance to his family, to go make something of himself. Homeless, he had several run ins with the Grimm, many of which were of him hiding away until they passed. The few times he was forced to fight, Ryuuji barely managed to win out or escape, since his only weapon was a cheap sword bought with the last of his money, and the enemy many times outnumbered him, or came one after another. Over time, he learned to fight with small precise movements when necessary to conserve his stamina. His reflexes also boosted from having to dodge as much damage as he could, due to the lack of medical attention he had access to.

After a few months by himself, he found himself over-confidently attacking a large group of Grimm as a request from a passing group of people. They had lived in a nearby town, and mistakenly thought Ryuuji was a Hunter sent to help make the nearby woods safer to explore. Ryuuji, hoping to help them out, did not correct them. He also asked the townspeople to set a trap using themselves as bait so that the Grimm wouldn't escape. Though he did well at first, it was obvious he was both ill equipped and unskilled for such a group of Grimm, while many of the townspeople who came to help were injured. Overwhelmed and on the verge of death, Ryuuji was only saved when the Hunter he had been impersonating spotted the group and swiftly saved him, though it cost the much older Hunter his arm, a cost Ryuuji never let himself forget.

The Hunter introduced himself as Tommy Sanders, and decided to take Ryuuji back to the city, where Ryuuji begged to be trained by Tommy so that he wouldn’t be the cause of another accident. He listened to Ryuuji’s stories of the forest, and was impressed he had managed to survive for so long out by himself. Tommy invited him to enter Beacon Academy, hoping Ryuuji would live up to some of his potential.
Ryuuji agreed to enter Beacon, but asked Tommy to train him in the sword as well. Tommy reluctantly agreed, and after nearly a year of training, Ryuuji entered Beacon.

Personality:

Ryuuji is happy-go-lucky, kind hearted, and a self-made leader, but is blatantly honest and sometimes downright awkward when talking to people, leading to more than a few sticky situations. He lacks self-confidence in himself at some crucial times, mainly when bested in anything. It can affect his abilities a fair amount; though he does his best to get stronger. He can be courageous and confident when his mind is clear, but tends to hesitate in unclear situations, especially when love and feelings are concerned. He does not get intimidated or feared easily, unless he is lacking confidence in himself.

Ryuuji holds his morality in good standing, believing most people to be good at heart and striving to help those in need when possible, which is his reasoning for becoming a Hunter. However, his friends in trouble supersede any and everything. He also has a tad of a sarcastic streak in him.

Ryuuji enjoys fighting to his limits, always hoping to be pushed a tad. He dislikes fighting obviously much weaker opponents, and is a particularly soft towards young children. Oddly, he often tries to challenge himself against far stronger enemies, but is quick to understand when he is hopelessly outmatched. However, when there’s a lot on the line and there’s no other option, he’ll be the last to back down.

He’s an optimistic pessimist, always expecting the worst but always ready to turn it into a good thing. Ryuuji loves sweets, especially chocolate and can cook only different dishes of pasta. He also has an unexplained thing for romance novels and love life stories, despite being horrible at it himself.

Strength:

>His skills with a sword are inspiring and above average at least, and he has experience in fighting all sorts of weapons.
>Quick reflexes and high degree of agility and speed. Good balance and great footwork allows him to stay inside a dangerous range while deflecting or dodging at least the most harmful damage.
>Not weighed down by armor, relying on his aura for mistakes in his dodges, so he is much faster than armored opponents.
>In battle he'll use anything and everything to his advantage, from a simple rock on the ground to the clothes on his back.
>Able to take quite a beating before giving up (Though his injuries may make him give up way before then).
>When collected and confident, he can be an excellent battle strategist.
>Good skill with many different types of weapons.
>Experienced with Fire Dust especially, which his weapons use.
>Good stamina, with a fighting style that tries to conserve energy to fight when outnumbered.
>Decent shot.

Weakness:

>Physically weaker than most other fighters; Can be overpowered if without his weapon and depends on its capabilities for most of his potential damage.
>When his confidence is low, which sometimes happens at the beginning of a fight, his abilities and speed suffer a significant amount, and his ability to think on his feet in battle is hindered greatly. This gradually goes away if the fight can flow in the way he wants.
>Although he has some ranged capabilities, Ryuuji is primarily a close range fighter. He is disadvantaged against skilled ranged enemies.
>When overconfident, he can let his guard down more than he should.
>He is easily guilt tripped.
>No armor.
>Easily distracted when he perceives the situation as not serious.
>Loses in most grappling situations, due to being lighter and smaller than most CQC fighters his age.
>His semblance's basic form isn't good in a one on one fight.
>Can’t handle women well.

Semblance:


Ryuuji can use his aura in very basic ways, using it to create simple shields to block harm and to activate dust remotely. When combined with his much higher reaction time, he can create a shield on almost instinct to avoid damage. If he's not careful he will run through his aura reserve and exhaust himself, but he will usually try to stop himself from using it and try dodging if he knows he needs to conserve energy.

Heartbeat

Ryuuji’s semblance gives off a warm aura that slightly increases the abilities and stamina of not just himself and friends, but anyone standing within a few feet of him (As he can’t control how it targets others, it is unbias; though he doesn’t really mind). The warmth also makes others feel better a small amount, or so he’s been told by a few.

Ryuuji can control his semblance so that it can come out in constant small bursts, making his base abilities and allies'/opponents' abilities close to him fluctuate constantly, allowing Ryuuji to control the flow of battle better. It takes some time to get used to for enemies and unfamiliar allies. While it operates autonomously from Ryuuji's thoughts, if he wants to change its tempo to confuse enemies, he must completely stop fighting and focus on changing it.

He can also focus it to increase his base abilities to a much higher degree than its normal aura form, making him faster and more agile, though this exhausts him if used too long. A orangish red glow around him forms when he uses his semblance this way, and his eyes turn about the same color.

WEAPON

Name:

Flame Oath

Primary Form:

A bright red katana with a black handle, roughly three and a half feet long with a compartment at the guard to insert dust crystals; This allows it to burst into flames, increasing the damage the sword can do. The guard is in the shape of a flame, his symbol and the symbol of his mentor.

The blade is telescopic, able to retract into the hilt as a substitute for a proper scabbard, and extends and retracts on Ryuuji’s swings and the pull of a trigger built into the handle. This also hides the handle attached to the topmost part of the sword inside. The top of the telescopic blade is removable, allowing Ryuuji access to a second weapon, a short dagger.

While in its complete form, a vent on the back of the sword near the tip/dagger handle allows Ryuuji to use a 'slash boost' that makes his sword move much faster and cut through tougher armor than usual. There is a small chance the backlash will harm his wrists and hands if the object he tries to cut is too hard.

Secondary Form:

The dagger has a small compartment for powdered dust canisters. Occasionally, Ryuuji throws the dagger, he can activate the dust inside to create a small scale explosion. It does some damage, but it’s not strong enough to kill or severely injure anyone unless they’ve already been hurt, but it makes noise and creates a lot of smoke and fire, making it a good distraction.

Tertiary Form:

When the dagger is removed, dust crystals can be shot out like a gun through the hole in the top of the hilt. As the sword only holds one or two crystals at a time before needing to be reloaded, this is normally used as a surprise attack or a desperate move. The dagger can also be fired in complete sword form like a bullet for increased damage and speed.

History:

Directed and helped heavily by his master, Ryuuji designed and built Flame Oath with his master’s weapon and style in mind. Remembering how his foolishness robbed Tommy of his ability to use both hands for his sword and dagger technique, he vowed to never allow himself to be the cause of a friend’s suffering.

Finished editing: Changed the semblance and weapon a little for clarity and tactics, added somewhat to the strengths and weaknesses, made him lose 10 pounds so a weakness would make more sense, and changed the picture. There might be a few changes I'm forgetting, but the rest are pretty non relevant.
