History: As bastard son of Varus Arks, Tyonis was raised under the shadow of his father's reputation as a premiere Hunter. Unlike most Hunters and Huntresses, Varus Arks did not simply safeguard established territory. He was a pioneer who spearheaded excursions into the most Grimm infested lands. During his service, Varus accumulated wealth and favor from Vale's best and brightest, cementing the Arks name in the Vale's history.

Despite being born into privilege, Varus never spoiled his son. Whenever Tyonis grew complacent, his father would remind him of the horrors that lurked just outside the city walls by throwing him into the wilderness. Once he came of age, Tyonis was enrolled into Signal. His performance and connections gave him easy admittance to Beacon Academy softly after his graduation.

Thanks to his accomplishments, Tyonis was given sole claim to his father's fortune over his older brother and sisters. This has made him a target for his siblings' hatred and envy; Tyonis has been forced to dispatch his fellow man almost as often as the Grimm.

Personality: Loyalty. Duty. Respect. Service. Honor. Integrity. Courage. These values have been drilled into Tyonis' psyche since he could understand the spoken word. However, like any regular person, Tyonis has his flaws. He often dislikes being called by his last name, since most people only see his father's reputation and accomplishments, instead of his own. A lifetime of physical and mental training have given him a very dry sense of humor and he prefers actions over words.

Strength: He is one of Signal's graduates, specializing in single-combat at close and mid-range. Tyonis has few friends and even fewer who hunt Grimm to the extent that he does, so his fighting style excels at eliminating a large number of foes single-handedly.

Weakness: He finds it hard to socialize because of his introverted personality and has difficulty trusting those around him thanks to years of assassination attempts. Perhaps his worst personality trait is his racism against the Faunus, born from his ancestor's service in the War.

Because Tyonis overspecializes in single-combat, he has very little experience working in even the smallest of teams. In order to compensate, he has to alter his fighting style to suit an environment with multiple allies, which reduces his overall effectiveness.

Semblance: Refraction. A specified form of telekinesis that allows one to alter the trajectory and acceleration of an object by manipulating the forces acting on it. An object at rest is far more difficult to manipulate than an object in motion. The object's mass and density must also be taken into consideration; smaller objects are easier to manipulate than larger ones. Furthermore, the weaker the force manipulated, the harder the user to change the object's trajectory and acceleration.

For example, at close range, directly stopping an oncoming bullet would be nigh impossible because the dominant force is propelling the bullet forward. However, it is within the user's power to alter the bullet's path to miss its target by several inches. To a third party observer, it appears as though the object's trajectory is sharply changed, like light through a prism, hence the name "Refraction." Although its effectiveness is limited depending on the situation, when used properly, this Semblance proves deadly: a bullet fired from a low caliber pistol can be Refracted to match the slug of a high-impact sniper rifle.

As one might suspect, Tyonis uses Refraction in conjunct with ranged attacks. He also uses it to ward off most small and medium arms fire. At Tyonis' level of skill, the object must be within his field of vision to Refract.

WEAPON

Name: Et Gehenna - Multi Action Dust Longsword, Model XIV Classic.

Primary Form: Et Gehenna is a two-handed, double-edged longsword with a six-slot revolving chamber for Dust capsules, crystals, or bullets. The Classic series are all non-foldable and epitomize an antique aesthetic, illustrating the spirit of a frontier six-shooter and a longsword.

History: A coming of age gift from his late father, Et Gehenna (Of Hell), was given to Tyonis after enrolling in Signal. It is too long to holster to his side, so Tyonis sheathes it across his back. Since most longswords specialize in the use of broad, sweeping strikes, it is a useful weapon when faced with multiple adversaries and caters to Tyonis' solitary fighting style of one vs. many.

First of all I would like to see some kind of combat related weakness added in.

I'm also not too sure on the semblance. Based on the wording, I can assume it's most common use would be against things like bullets. Without insane vision and reflexes I'm not sure it would be possible, since it is implied that the user has to make a conscious effort to change the trajectory. It also doesn't really seem to fit a character who's fighting style seems geared more towards hunting grimm.

Added a little blurb on the Weakness part!

In RWBY, most of the characters are capable of insane feats of martial ability. Taking bullets as an example, Adam and Blake can sprint through a hailstorm of machine gun bullets while swatting the most threatening of them out of their way. Cinder Fall can predict the paths of the high-impact sniper rifle rounds from Ruby's scythe and block them with just the palm of her hand and her Aura. Although not to Blake's extent, both Melanie and Miltia can block and parry oncoming bullet fire as well, even when fired at point-blank from the Ember Celica, but these twins are described to have merely above-average combat ability.

Would it be too much to assume that most characters in the RWBY-verse (Especially those admitted into Beacon Academy, a elite combat school meant to train Hunters) can track and trace the paths of oncoming bullet fire and react accordingly? In Tyonis' case, it would be even easier to deal with small and medium arms fire, since he doesn't actually have to move any part of his body to affect the bullets. If not, I can change it.

As for the Semblance not fitting because of what he normally fights, Tyonis has fought just as many people as he has Grimm thanks to all the clandestine assassination attempts on his life.

I had the same thoughts as Sei about the semblance, but it seems to have a fair bit of weakness, in that close range stuff cannot be blocked with it, and it cannot lift/move larger objects like heavy shells, or cannon fire, etc.

Okay, I guess I can live with this. 2/2 and moved.
