Occupation: Student and Street Performer on the side.
Appearance:
- Face Claim:
Caster is 5'11" with a slim body and olive skin. He has jet black hair to his shoulders and purple eyes. He wears
this, a magician suit with a bowtie, as well as his weapon gloves on each hand.
History:
Caster Grate grew up with an unusual life. His parents had been Beacon students, however never graduated as Hunters. They did seek a career to use their skill though. One would say they ran away to join the circus.
In search for a more peaceful life, they joined the circus while it was in Vale, working not only on the trapeze but defending the train when on the road. This was the life
Caster would be born into.
The spotlight was all he knew, not only from the family he had but the attention he received.
Caster was the child of the circus, cared for and loved by all he knew. Whether this was healthy or not could be argued, but it grew the boy into who he would be. Circus performers are not born, you know, they are made, and
Caster was made for the spotlight. Everything he did was a show, and then talk spread of letting him perform.
So at age 12 it was decided that after all he had seen it was only common sense that
Caster would now choose his place in the circus community. Luckily he knew exactly what he had in mind.
The Dust Powered Performance Gloves, or DPP Mk IV, had always held a special interest with
Caster. He had never seen them used due to the circus not having a magician, and that made this his chance. He would be set apart form the rest of the circus, a new act for all to see. So putting on his suit and gloves,
Caster went to make his mark in circus history. And what a mark he made.
Putting on a show like never seen before.
Caster dazzled all with natural skill that flowed from his fingertips, literally. Here is where his life truly began, and
Caster put himself in the center of attention.
He was the main event, the Great
Caster,
Caster Grate, the Great. But it was never enough. No matter how many crowds he stunned, how spectacular his performance, something felt empty. This did not go unnoticed, and talk spread among the circus of what to do. His parents were the ones to state what they were all thinking. Though made to perform,
Caster as born to fight.
After sitting
Caster down, his parents told him about their time at Beacon, and his choice to go there. It would be dangerous, but he would make a difference, and he could always come home. Through thought and discussion it was decided.
Caster would become a Huntsmen at Beacon Academy.
Personality:
One word describes
Caster better than any, performer.
Caster is, by nature, a perform, the center of attention. He is energetic, fun, and full of life. He loves bringing a smile to the faces of others, being very friendly and kind.
The cons of
Caster's personality is he can be a bit of an annoyance to some, loving to talk and interact. He is also easily hurt, hating criticism and can be very defensive.
Strength:
* Dust expert: Many years of studying dust and using it actively has given
Caster a wide knowledge of dust and its usage. In battle he has a quick reaction time due to this being able to generally come up with the best type of dust needed for most situations very quickly and will take action just as quickly.
* Intellectual: Despite his flashy personality he is incredibly smart and has high analytic ability on the field. He can assess the situation quickly and formulate a good response just as fast giving him a fast reaction ability.
* Float like a man in tights, sting like an animal tamer's whip: His life on the circus has given him many experiences in multiple arts. He has trained with the acrobats over the years if only to make his show more interesting once in a while which also resulted in giving him a nimble body and fast movements increased already by his slight of hand expertise. His knowledge of acrobatics also gives him a strong jump, swing, and so forth in which allows him to dodge attacks easily.
*Slight of hand: It's all about misdirection as they say.
Caster is a master of deception and often uses feints to mislead the enemy and attack them with something unexpected.
Weakness:
* From you have learned and to dust you shall turn to:
Caster is highly reliant on dust attacks and is not that well trained in melee combat thus his physical strength is average at best if not a little below. This gives him a disadvantage in contests of pure strength so he's not very good at blocking attacks at all.
* Living in the Spotlight: A bit too flashy at times he tends to attract the attention of enemies a bit too often.
* Float like an elephant, sting like a clown monkey:
Caster tends to get cocky in his own abilities at times causing him to underestimate the enemy a bit too much. His own movements become sloppy and flawed and he ends up getting hit constantly with the weight of his ego slowing him down.
Semblance: Spotlight
He's always lived for the spotlight and now the spotlight works for him.
Caster is able to manipulate and bend viable light rays in certain ways to his advantage. By splitting white light to make it appear as colors and combining multiple pieces and bits of colored light in a complex way,
Caster can create illusions of light spectrum to fool the enemy. This tends to require heavy concentration for just one illusion so he seldom uses this.
Caster can even bend the light rays around himself to make him appear invisible. The problem is this require even more concentration if he tries moving and he can only stay invisible for about a minute at a time. This is mostly use for escape tricks and surprise attacks.
Caster's most useful use of this semblance is his ability to create an explosion of light about as potent as a flash grenade coming from the palm of his hand. This does not require as much concentration and
Caster can use this move very quickly. The problem is that since it's emitted from his palm, he has to get pretty close to the enemy for it to work fully. Too far a distance and it will only cause the enemy to see a blur at most for few seconds. With
Caster so close by he also has to close his own eyes and look away as to not get caught in it himself giving the enemy room to strike him down right there if the attack does not work at all.
WEAPON
Name: Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam (Not the Pokemon!)
Primary Form: Abra, Kadabram, and Alakazam consist of three separate pieces, two gloves and a wand. Each glove has small tubes running through to the palm and fingertip, all connected to seven container of dust around the wrist. On the back of each hand are the voice activated processers with the
circuits, in the shape of glyphs.
In use the palms can shoot more powerful burst of dust, though unfocused and slower firing. The fingers, however, shoot more precise and less powerful blast with more complex mixes of dust.
Secondary Form: Alakazam, the third part of the
Caster's weapon, is a simple black wand with a white tip. Along the shaft are ringed connectors that hook onto Kadabra, the right glove's, fingertips. This allows some of Cater's flashier moves which is why he mostly uses it when preforming.
Another function is the ability to create glyphs, something
Caster does not to often. It is an option he likes to have but is his least experienced skill.
History: The set that
Caster uses as his weapons was not originally for combat purposes. Given to him at the age of twelve, he used the dust-powered gloves during his first performance. After a spectacular show that blew the mind of not only the crowd but the performers he became the central act, using the set he deemed Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam, on all his performances.
When reaching age 18 and making the decision to peruse a carrier as a Huntsmen his set became a weapon, using the powerful dust for offensive tactics instead of pure entertainment.
