Path to the Mad Man

David stood back, and looked at them. "Harekles tried to kill me so I might be a bit high on adrenaline. Of course I know how this will go. I say this and no one will believe me. The only evidence I have is what was on his cane back at the house. Other then that you all think I have gone loony right?" He said with a deadpan look.

"Basically, yes." Robin confirmed, "Though that Harekles guy did seem a little shifty..."

"That's just his personality," Byron shrugged. "That and being the disposal specialist of a local mafia group."

Byron flashed a cheshire grin. "So! Who wants to go get pizza? I mean the cooking around here is a little bland, but I know an Italian place..."

Robin slowly turned to Byron.

David then began to laugh. "The mafia......heheheh......THE MAFIA!!! WHY DID YOU WAIT TO TELL US THIS!?" He said while looking around. "I need to get out of town. I'm dead meat if I stay." David is now extremely worried. You can see the fear in his eyes.

"Oh? Didn't I mention that?" Byron smiled, tilting his head slightly to the side innocently. "The Marchello family is a mafia syndicate ran by the Don, infamously known as Father Time. Here's the slogan. 'Waste my time and I end yours.' Catchy isn't it? Harekles is his son by the way. He shows lots of promise they say. He threw his first chump into the ocean chained to a cinderblock when he was thirteen."

"Harekless isn't bad though," Dormir defended, still riding on Byron's shoulders. "He says he only defeats really bad people the police aren't able to arrest."

"......" Robin just rested her face in her palms, "Oh great. Now we have to deal with the Mafia as well, I thought we were just supposed to fight Grimm, some Hunters we are." She said, putting as much sarcasm as she could into that sentence.

David just looked at Byron. "Byron I had fun, but can you take me to Beacon, before the mob blows my head off?" He asked as put his mask up, and wrapped his wings around him. He was trying to hide him self. His wings relaxed into a coat looking outfit, and his mask was hidden under a hood,

"You stick out like a sore thumb," Dormir deadpanned.

"Calm down David," Byron laughed. "You watch too many mobster movies. Now why don't we head out somewhere before 'I make yous sleep with the feeshes, kabeesh'?"

"Forget about iiit~," Dormir smiled playfully, adding on to Byron's mobster act.

David just laughed a little. "Byron. Are you sure?" His wing folded up, and he was wearing a entirely new outfit. His mask retracted, and his hair was black, and had a neon stripe through it. He had on jeans, trainers, black T, and headsets.

"Oh trust me, they would still recognize you," Byron smiled. "There was this one guy who had a gender change but they still found and offed him. But you have nothing to worry about, really. Harekles thinks you're a stain on the pavement. The only way he would want to continue to go after you is if he saw you still alive again."

"Not that he would. Harekles is a hero of justice," Dormir smiled.

"....But wouldn't he be coming down here right now?" Robin asked.

"Well yes, whatever business he may have had up there must be done by now," Byron shrugged. "He'll be coming down anytime now really, which was why I suggested we go out and away from here while we have the chance."

Byron looks up at the tower as if to check the time on the massive clock. "But he'll be down any moment now."

David just acted casual. "New topic. Where to next?" He asked trying to change the subject as fast as possible.

"Are you sure? I mean you seemed so keen on staying here talking a moment ago," Byron smirked. "We can spend some time at my house for now. Have some dinner, play some board games, have a slumber party, you know how it works. Harekles rarely comes to my house generally really so you should be fine."

"Yay! Sleepover at Byrons!" Dormir shouted gleefully, raising her arms in the air.

Robin nodded, "That seems like the best idea." Then motioned for Byron to lead the way back, "Come on, the sooner we get out of here the better."

In a sudden hurry, everyone retreated back to Byron's house and went to his room to discuss events. Everyone sat around his tea table with an exception to Robin. With only four chairs and Dormir taking the fourth insisting with a pout that it has always been hers when she, Byron, and Harekles would play tea party, Robin was left the only one standing.

"You can always sit on my lap if you want," Byron smiled.

Robin just glared at Byron and pushed out an open space to stand in. Leaning over the table, Robin looked to her teammates plus one.

"Okay, we need to figure out what to do now. If Harekles figures out David is still alive, and he will, when he doesn't find a splat on the ground, he will come after him. Any ideas?"

"Harekles won't come after David," Dormir said matter-of-factly. "The mafia is a group of vigilanty justice. He wouldn't hunt David unless he was a bad guy."

"Well he did make the Cat cry on the way here," Byron smiled.

"You made Cheshire cry??" Dormir exclaimed, shooting her gaze at David. "What kind of man makes a girl cry?? You are a bad guy!"

Robin snorted, "It's okay, David just has a crush on the Cat. It's very complicated."

David sent a glare right at Robin. "If I could I would apologize. Making someone cry is not something I am proud of........and ITS NOT A CRUSH!" He said angrily. (think comedic anger. Like anime.) He just crossed his arms, and blushed a little with a pout on his face..

"W-Wait," Dormir stammered, "David has a thing for the Cat? But... she's a part of onee chan... So that... So that means..." Dormir covered her mouth and averted her eyes with a blush on her face. She nervously glanced at David and asked, "A-Are you the doughnut or the banana?"

David just glared at her, before putting his head in his hand.. "Please drop it I don't have a crush on her. When I was stuck in his head", He said pointing to Byron, "she followed me. If at all possible I would like to forget my trip into the mind of Byron. Also, Byron......you need to see a shrink man."

"Y-You were inside of onee chan?" Dormir said flustered, shifting in her seat. "I- I've read manga about that..."

"I hope I'm not interrupting anything," Alyss said as she opened the door to Byron's room. "Oh my, is that you Dormir? It's been so long since you've come over. I'm going to make hamburger steak just for you tonight."

"Yay!" Dormir shouted happily, raising her arms in the air.

"Oh, is that you Byron? My, it's been so long..." a raspy male's voice came from behind Byron's guardian. Alyss stepped to the side, letting a middle aged man walk in, his rat tail swaying behind him.

"Daddy!" Dormir shouted happily, jumping out of her seat and into his arms.

"My my, did you make Byron take care of you all day?" he smiled, rubbing her head. "Thank you for looking after my daughter..."

He looked up at David who still wore his disguise. His eyes squinted as he looked at him closely. "Say, have I seen you somewhere before?"

David looked at the man and smiled. "I don't believe so. Where have you seen me though? Store? Town?" He asked genuinely.

"I... don't know," the man replied, scratching the back of his head. "I feel like I've seen your face before..."

"Mr. Maus," Alyss interrupted, "Would you like to have some tea with me in the kitchen? I'm sure the kids would rather talk among themselves."

"Ah~ of course of course," he smiled. "Oh, and let me help with dinner. It's the least I can do since you've invited me to stay for dinner."

"I want to help too!" Dormir piped in, following her father and Byron's guardian out of the room with a skip in her step.

David watched as they left. "Wonder how he knows me.....never met him before." David just thought to himself. Was he the man in the clock tower?........Possibly. "Byron I know Dormir said Harekles fights bad guys, but he's part of the mafia.....doesn't he have to off anyone who doesn't pay or gets in their way?"
