Stingers and Hunters [CLOSED]

Leonard Strave notices the hunters proximity to their target so he decides to test something out. "Ok, now play with your prey a bit." Upon saying that he presses something on his scroll then carefully watches as the Nevermore suddenly change direction after a sudden jerk of their heads. One after the other the grimm swoop down suddenly just above the treeline causing a massive gust of wind to stir up the branches before suddenly climbing again. After making a turn in midair they start circling around the clearing proceeding to trying to flush out anything within the forest. Upon the second swoop a bunch of other birds took to the sky only to be intercepted by the second nevermore causing them to start falling one after the other after being hit by the massive grim.

Pulling his goggles on as the wind suddenly got stronger Xarias quickly forms his rifle ready to aim at the grimm. After seeing the Nevermore pluck the birds out of the sky he quickly rethought about revealing his position and proceeded to looking for the others. After walking on the forest floor for a minute or two, the nevermore still continuing their routine, he spots Kandata in the middle of a wide clearing, apparently waiting for something. Is he insane? What if those grimm spot him? Wait, he's got those threads of his. They may prove useful later on. Just as he was about to approach Kandata he finds that his earlier observation proved true, there were threads intertwining around the clearing, a bunch of them barely visible if not for his heightened senses at the moment. As he found his way around he spots Kail and Varius and calls their attention. "Yo, by the looks of it we might have to think of something before tackling these guys. This Kandata dude may prove useful in ensnaring one of them but it'd be too dangerous if the other one attacks him as he gets one." he says as he approaches them. Not bothering to finish his idea he knows it should be fairly obvious that they'd need to provide a distraction or at least support until they take at least one down.

Kail had aimed at the Avian Grimm the moment it had swooped, dashing back a safe distance and looking towards Xarias, nodding "More distractions are needed, perhaps a few Burn crystals would suffice in the short term...." and he swatted away a dead bird that would have fallen on him to the ground.

"Agreed. It seems like they're extremely aggressive but also very fast. We'd need a couple of people to be able to take their attention of each other as they close in on each other. Anyways they aren't armored so maybe some ranged fire would work just fine." Xarias said, quickly getting some high velocity rounds from his satchel and replacing the magazines in his rifle.

Spencer watches under the tree line as the two flying grim rapidly descend. "Aww~this ain't gonna feel good!" When they pull up and gain altitude, it creates a massive downward gust that Spencer, in his state, cannot handle. The wind pushes him into the small opening where he lays open. Dammit! But things look better when they enter Spencer's line of potential fire.
Acting on it, Spencer draws Candy and points it up at the sky, but the targets exit his line of sight, as the clearing he is by is too small for this kind of combat. The nevermores would have only a little bit of time before leaving Candy's approximate range, anyway. So, with a huff of frustration, Spencer sits up and awkwardly stands, continuing his trek over to the others.

Varius smirks as he hears Xarias' idea. Distractions? Sure I'll do a bit of that. Taking hold of Umbra Varius activates its cannon mode and selects the fires dust. Its bright, its hot, and it will get their attention. He takes careful aim at one of the Nevermores, after years of practice with his weapon Varius knows how fast it can travel and aims ahead of the beast trying to increase the chances of hitting as much as possible. "I think this will make a great distraction!" Varius pushes in on the handle of his blade activating the firing mechanism and launching a ball of fire at what would hopefully be the Grimm's location.

As the ball of fire shoots up into the sky the Nevermore quickly swerve and split up, barely avoiding the deadly projectile as it wizzes past the head of one of them. Having spotted the source of the attack, the first Nevermore dives down towards the clearing in an attempt to get a hold on to one of the hunters, particularly at the one who made the shot. A short distance away, the next grimm lowers altitude, in a less steep dive in the same direction of the first grimm but maintaining it's distance to react to whatever happens next to first attacker.

A sigh escaped Kail's mouth as he observed what Varius was doing, and the Nevermore's reaction. He quickly aimed to the fast approaching Avian Grimm and unloaded everything; Fifteen explosive Bullets flew out of his weapon's barrel one by one, speeding at the Nevermore with deadly accuracy, he also backpedalled away from Varius to a place he wouldn't be caught in the range of the large bird, if it hit Varius. Kail had also readied himself to get out of the way, should the Nevermore change course for him.

Kandata smirked as the nevermore dives down directly into his trap. He looked at the other grimm as it follows its comrade. "Tch... it would be easier to take these guys one by one." He muttered. "But nevertheless..." he said as he moves his right arm in front of him. "I also got these guys to back me up," he grinned.

"Well, you know they say, early bird catches the early worm... or not!" As soon as first nevermore reaches the proximity of his trap, Kandata closed his right palm, activating his well-prepared trap. The rustling of leaves and branches echoed throughout the woods as his threads reacts to his orders. The open spaces in between the web trap grew smaller and smaller, and as soon as the nevermore reached a certain altitude, almost-invisible threads sprung out of nowhere, attempting to bind the flying grimm.

As the nevermore dives it is met by a sudden onslaught of bullets and threads attempting to bind it coming from all directions, by narrowly avoiding the gunfire it instead gets caught up in the makeshift web but continues down it's trajectory. As the threads wrap around the grimm it quickly loses speed and stops with it's head just in front of Kandata, attempting to bite him but missing by mere inches between them.

Ok, that's one down. Now to make sure the other doesn...

Just as the thought hit Xarias' head, A strong surge of wind rushes by, forcing Xarias to dig the blade of his rifle into the ground to avoid getting blown away, and knocks a few trees down, nearly loosening the other grimm. "Damn it. Kandata keep a good hold on that bastard. I'm going for the other one." Xarias said as he pulled his gun out of the ground. Spinning it around he manages to form his Dual ended spear and he shoots up towards the treeline, using the momentum to give him a quick vault upwards whilst spinning and forming his dual grappling blades. As he reached the top he shoots both grappling blades to the tops of some trees then zips out of the canopy spinning with both blades in hand as the grimm rushed by but only managing to clip a wing, barely missing the neck. Dammit. Just a little further and that would've ended it. As he fell downwards he noticed the grimm change it's direction towards him, picking up speed and eyeing him just as it did the birds earlier.. "Come here little birdie!" he yelled as he activated extreme burst and started shooting towards the grimm managing to land a few bullets in it but it ignored the pain and continued intercepting him. Just as the nevermore attempted on tackling him with it's wing, Xarias uses his sped up senses to flip his body and dig his blade into it's back before loosening up and shooting towards another tree. With both blades dug in he starts reeling in the grimm but it's resistance proved to be difficult and it got to lose the blade and fly away. Landing back onto the forest floor Xarias brushes himself off and says, "Well, I got it's attention now." As he ran towards the next clearing the nevermore spots him and dives again, now ignoring it's previous goal of saving it's partner but with full intent on killing Xarias.

Kail had reloaded both Cartridge and Crystal, and he dashed along the ground, following Xarias' track, firing up at the Nevermore when he can as he ran. When Xarias landed, Kail caught up with him "Gonna need more than one person to take it down." and he once again unloaded all he had at the Avian Grimm.

When Spencer FINALLY gets to the battle zone, he is met with a sudden, tree-breaking wind and thrown backward with an: "I finally-WHOA!" The boy gets thrown into the trunk of a tree with a thud. Again! Mother-...MMMH!! Using his forceful state of mind, Spencer ignores the pain in his legs and starts to slowly walk forward in frustration toward the bird caught in the trap. Struggling to get there but he does.
Spencer pulls out Candy and points it up at the grimm's upper chest. "HEY!!! COME'ERE Y'FREAKIN' TURKEY!!" Spencer's thumb pulls back on the hammer back and then pulls the trigger, knowing full well that it is not enough to injure it too much. The bullet should penetrate deep but it needs to hit a critical spot in order to do more than cause a little bleeding.
It is Spencer's way of challenging the bird like someone challenging someone else that they do not like to a fight in high school.

"Aye aye, cap'n!" Kandata replied to Xarias as he tightens his grip on his threads, binding the giant grimm even more.

"...but, even if you say that, I really can't do anything but hold off this giant bird. If I try to move from my position, it might get out of my trap." Kandata said in a worried way. He then saw Spencer came out of nowhere and shot the nevermore at its chest. "Nice..!" he said out loudly.

"But, I doubt that's enough  though." Kandata added and turns towards Varius. "Hey, guy with big sword!" he called him out. "Wanna help us take care of this bounty over here?" Kandata asked as his eyes points at the trapped grimm.

Several of Kails' bullets strike the chasing Nevermore, causing it to stray a bit from it's path but soon enough regains direction. The smell of burning flesh and feathers permeated in the air as the grimm overtook Xarias and Kail, diving in with its talons in an attempt to attack Xarias who was in the lead. With extreme burst activated Xarias easily saw the attack coming but nearly got grazed by a claw as he shot one blade towards a tree and reeled in to avoid the attack. As the Nevermore dug it's talons into the ground Xarias decided to attack by zipping above the grimm and diving with a revolving blade attack towards the nape of the neck. The grimm then managed to get free and swatted a wing towards Xarias, getting it cut in the process but protecting the nape of it's neck from near decapitation.

Damn it. It moves a bit fast for it's size.

As he landed back on to the ground he shot a few rounds at the grimm, grazing it but only succeeding in getting it angrier. "Come here bird brain!" he yelled as he zipped away from the Nevermore.


Back at Kandata's 'web' the grimm writhed as a shot hit it's chest, causing it to thrash even more, nearly getting loose enough to bite Kandata and Spencer but only succeeding at spitting at them. As the grimm thrashed even more the trees holding some of the threads started bending towards it, almost loosening the wires despite Kandata's tightening.

Kail had taken the time Xarias had been distracting the bird to load another magazine, along with a Freeze Crystal, firing at the joints of the Nevermore's wings, several bullets flying at it, giving off a chilly mist as the bullets rapidly approached. Kail had also accounted into his shots: The wind speed, the acceleration of the Avian Grimm, along with its direction, distance, and wing movement.

Varius looked over at Kandata with a look of annoyance. "Sword guy? I'm Varius and don't you forget it!" Taking hold of Umbra's grip Varius spun the handle preparing the repulsion dust for use. With his weapon still in cannon form Varius ran toward a small tree and started and jumped onto a thick branch. The sound of snapping was immediate but Varius only needed the limb for a moment before jumping off. While in the air Varius pushed the handle inward causing the mechanism to fire the repulsion dust and launch him into the air. Varius soared in the sky above Kandata and the Nevermore, taking aim as he did. When he was satisfied with his trajectory Varius pointed the cannon away from the Grimm and fired once more, firing himself toward the beast at an incredible speed. As he neared his target, Varius turned his blade toward the Nevermore's neck aiming to sever its spinal cord.

As the Nevermore prepares for another swoop it finds itself suddenly stiffened by the formation of ice on it's wings. Unable to keep up with the low altitude and lack of lift the Grimm finds itself crashing down to the forest floor, disturbing everything below and knocking down a few trees as it did. Xarias, seeing the opportunity, quickly zips towards the grimms oncoming position with both blades at the ready. Firing a high velocity round from his guns, Xarias then intercepts the stumbling grimm with a revolving slash attack to the neck, severing it from it's head. As the now headless grimm falls, it hits a large tree and stops dead in it's tracks, it's head rolling down towards beside its body a moment later.

A short distance away, a familiar scene unfolds. As Varius was leaping from the tree the wires around the grimm loosen one by one as a few trees snap to the avian grimm's thrashing. Just as the wires loose their tension Varius comes crashing down, Umbra in hand, instantly severing the grimm's head from it's body, it's body crashing down in a mess of broken trees, wires and it's head bathed in its own blood.

Kandata just smiled as the helpless grimm got his head almost decapitated in front of him. He wipes off a few stains of blood on his shirt, then looks back at spencer. "Well, that was a thing."

Kail watched the Target fall, reloading again, noting how fast it took compared to others.
He walked over to its head and uprighted it, putting his weapon down and pulling out his scroll, taking a selfie of him and the Grimm, before checking the areas left, deciding on the further one, which had less of an incline and was relatively flat, compared to the closer one, which would be steeper to get to. He put his scroll away and picked up his Sniper Rifle, saying "That went well."

Brushing himself off Xarias approaches the grimm's body before a tiny explosion goes off in the neck area causing some blood and guts to splatter all over his face and in the distance a similar thing happens to the other grimm. "What the hell?" he exclaimed as he wiped the blood off his face with his sleeve. "Damn it, just when I thought we'd find something important." Looking over the body Xarias finds that the area right across the nape, just like the previous Ursae, must have contained a device of some sort and that someone didn't want them to retrieve it.

A few clicks from their position, Leonard Strave closes his scroll after inputting the data he collected from the fight. "Tsk tsk tsk. What a shame, seems like the training of the larger grimm didn't pay off that much. I guess that's what we get for rushing them." he said to himself, somewhat amused by the turn of events. Jumping off the tree he uses his crossbow to transverse to the next area, switching from tree to tree until eventually arriving. Well, I shouldn't have expected much from the more superior and larger grimm. But we can't be totally sure about these next ones. Pulling out his scroll again, Leonard Strave activates another program to rile up the next 'targets'." Now play nice." He muttered as a grin formed on his face.

Spencer simply starts to reload his weapons and acknowledges the wed-maker with a short hum. "Hm."*Click*
Delilah's cylinder shuts after the single spent shell from before is released. I swear, when I find tha' bastard-of-a-'range' ', I'mma do more 'an play a rigged game o' Death's Roulette. 'ma play a game o' 'Kick Y'In The Face 'ntil Y'Bleed.' I want answers for what's goin' on here...
Spencer holsters Delilah and pulls out Candy to reload her but something catches his eye away from the gun. He looks up and sees someone swinging from tree to tree.
"Son of a-.." Spencer starts to run in the direction the man is going but can only do a mixture of a hop and a waddle for longer distances in his state. "There he is!" It is difficult to see the ranger but it is possible for a couple seconds. After those few seconds, he disappears behind a group of trees.
