CHARACTER
Name: Kokkino Thanatou
Age: 19 years of age. Birthday is on the last day of the second month.
Gender: Female
Symbol: A golden laurel with a flame inside of it.
Occupation: 1st year student, Mercenary
Appearance: Covered in burn scars and winding tattoos, Kokkino almost looks like a monster from a movie. Her hair is unruly and white, coming down to just beneath her shoulder blades. Her left eye has a black imprint of a three sided shuriken in the pink iris. The right eye is a cyan color. Instead of clothing, she wears bandages covering her entire body. The top of her head and the area around her right eye are the only unbandaged areas, allowing her hair to flow and allowing her to see. Strapped to the center of her chest is an artificial voice box. She stands at 4'11" tall, and weighs 130 pounds.
Language and speaking: Kokkino doesn't normally speak with her voice, instead using the artificial voice box on her chest to speak. The sound of the box is very robotic and flat, not having any emotion to it. When she does speak with her own vocal cords, her voice is flowing and quiet almost taking on a tone of sadness. However, she can't speak for very long due to it hurting her vocal cords greatly. She can understand a wide range of languages but doesn't understand why, but can only speak commonspeech.
History: Living in an orphanage for the first seven years of her life, Kokkino never knew her parents. None of the other kids talked to her, avoiding her on a general basis. She ran away when adults came and adopted most of the other children, ignoring the cries for her to come back. Escaping into the city wasn't the hard part - it was staying alive in the city. Quickly learned to fend for herself, she was eventually taken under the wing of a Hunter who found her gnawing on scraps in a side alley. During her time with the Hunter, she unlocked her Semblance, "Fliessen", which she quickly adapted to and utilized. On her 12th birthday, the Hunter used his semblance to place tattoos of intricate patterns under her skin, designating her as part of his family. When her 13th birthday came around, the Hunter was attacked by the White Fang. A giant explosion rocked the house they lived in, knocking over the Hunter which became his downfall. A piece of the rafters fell, impaling the blademaster where he lay. With bloody palms, he layed his blades - The Riptides- into Kokkino's hands, asking that she not hate the Faunas, but the White Fang. She took the blades and swore through her tears and cries that she would avenge him. Right as she was about to leave the house however, another explosion hit it, blowing Kokkino back into the house. Right as the flames began to kick up darkness claimed her sight, allowing her to pass into unconsciousness. When she woke she was in a hospital, her body covered in scars from the burns. When she asked how long she was out for, they said several months. Slowly but surely, Kokkino began to regain her former ability through rehabilitation and training. When she became 15 she decided to join Signal academy, taking the Hunter's Whipswords with her. By the end of the first year she had learned to cover her body with bandages, as most people were unnerved by the twisting scars that danced silently with the tattoos. In the second year she had her first loss of a dual against the boy named Godhammer, who she also suspected had things he wanted to conceal. When she graduated Signal, she immediately applied for Beacon, hoping to get closer to the time when she could avenge the fallen Hunter that had saved her from the streets.
Personality: Kokkino is a very clingy individual, staying by one's side once they get used to her. However, due to her appearance most people have avoided her. She doesn't understand why people are so unnerved by her. This has had a negative effect, causing depression. Because she has no friends at the moment, she tries very hard to talk to people and gain their trust. Likes Mistral cuisine the most, tending to edge more towards that when she can.
Strengths: She is very good at staying mobile, able to wallrun and move across surfaces that would give others trouble. She is also very proficient with her Whipblades, able to use them in tandem with her semblance almost flawlessly. Intimidation is something she's good at but doesn't enjoy. She is also very good at piloting vehicles and varying airships. Surprisingly good at cooking and has varying skills that are purely for hobby. (Wood carving, throwing knives, etc)
Weaknesses: Her intimidation factor makes it hard to make friends or even allies as most people just see her as a disturbing presence that should be ignored. Strikes to most parts of her body hurt a lot more than usual because of the burn marks. Forearms and the shins hurt especially badly as those spots took the brunt of the flame. When she uncovers her left eye she has to keep it closed or else she immediately gets a blinding headache due to conflicting sight signals.
Semblance: Jokingly called the "Can Opener" semblance by allies in battle, Kokkino's Semblance is called "Phage". For a fairly large portion of her aura, she can phase her blades through a target's armor to attack the weak flesh underneath. This ability is taxing enough however that she cannot use it twice in a row or risk the possibility of dying or collapsing. Another key factor is that "Phage" only works against metal armors, and thinner ones at that. Armor made of bone, leather, or heavy metal will still deflect a blade strike.
WEAPON
Name: Twin Riptide
Primary Form: The primary form of Twin Riptide which is also it's storage form is a pair of segmented swords with clips on the hilts. They are just that - a pair of swords. Their main power lies in when they transform into their secondary form. The metal of the blades is tinted red, and the handle is a dark gray.
Secondary Form: For Twin Riptide's secondary form, the segments of the blades extend away from each other on a wire, becoming like a whip. In this form, dust can be imbued into the segments of blade using a dust crystal which would be put into the handle.
History: This pair of Whipblades were once owned by the Hunter that saved Kokkino, having been forged while he was in training. They have gained many upgrades while throughout their use, the primary ones being blade replacements and the addition of the dust channels. Upon the day of the White Fang attack, these blades were given to the young Thanatou, where she swore upon them to avenge the death of the Hunter. She changed out the blade once while in Signal, where it gained the red hue that it currently has.
