Family Reunion Part 1

The group of four take an airship to the city then a taxi cab, which smelled like rotten fish to a desolate street under an overpass. The street is lined with trash and old buildings minus one. A small 2 story house, placed ironically between two buildings. The lights on in the window, a billow of smoke drifts from the large chimney, hinting that its not a fireplace but a smith's shop. Above the door is a dusty sign that reads, "Drakur Armory: When you need a unique weapon, it has to be a Drakur ~Marshall Drakur".

Shem frowns, looking up at the sign, hesitating to open the door to greet his father. "I-I don't know guys, maybe we should just go back..."

Kaitlin looks annoyed at him.

"Dude, we didnt come from a rotten fish taxi for a reason."

Aeden looks at Shem. "She's right besides you still need your part. Why are you so nervous about this. Scared to introduce Kaitlyn?"

Just then the door opens and instead of a welcoming hug, a smith hammer flies at Shem's face sending him flying into a dumpster across the street. The thrower, a 4'6" man, short gray hair, a mustache wearing blue dusty overalls and goggles resting over his brown eyes stands there with an angry look on his face.

"You think you can just stand at my door and not come in!? What have I taught you about standing in doorways Shem!? Jezz, I thought I trained you right and now look at you! Youre just laying over there being a bum! IS THAT WHAT YOU WENT TO BEACON FOR?! TO BE A BUM?!"

((OOC: Marshall will be talking in green to avoid confusion))

The man looks at Aeden, Lucina, and Kaitlyn and looks back at Shem across the street. He reaches into his overalls and tosses another hammer at Shem.

"Oh youre not gonna introduce me to your friends either?!"

The man fixes his overalls and changes his angry mood to a humble one and faces the 3,

"'Names Marshall, Marshall Drakur, Im that lazy son of a gun's father"

Aeden looks back at Shem but quickly turns back to the man before him hoping to not be next. "Hello I'm Aeden were Shem's friends from Beacon nice to meet you, Sir." Aeden offers his hand for a handshake.

Marshall returns the handshake with a rock crushing grip. "Pleased ta meet ya" He looks back over to Shem, who's slowly standing up rubbing his head. "YOU SEE THAT, BOY? THAT'S A WELCOME!" He looks over to Kaitlyn and Lucina, "Well well, and who might you ladies be? Not any of Shem's girlfriends, he's so shy, he cant ask a rock out. Believe me, he tried."

"DAD!" Shem yells from across the street, as he walks back.

Aeden forces a smile hoping to hide the pain of his now likely broken hand. Oh gooooood that hurt! How did Shem not arrive at Beacon in a body cast.

"Actually I'm his girl-friend."

"Well I'll be...'names Marshall, you can call me pops" He says to Kaitlyn with a sparkle in his eyes. In a sudden the sparkle fades and turns angry again towards Shem who's nearing the group right now.

"SHEM DRAKUR!!!!!!!"

"Oh god...not again"

Marshall readies a wrench this time but decides against it. "Get your ass in here and make your friends and your LOVELY girlfriend some tea? You ok with tea, eh boy?" He turns to Aeden with a glare. "And who's the quiet one beside you?"

Aeden almost cannot handle his glare but keeps his composure. "I was taught its rude to be picky when offered something, Sir. Tea is just fine." Please dont kill me. I'm too young. I havent even faded to black.

He holds her hand gently, "Pleased to meet you, young lady. Now come on in, Ill get lazy over there to get tea started". He welcomes them in to his house.

A small living room welcomes them. A small couch with some chairs there and a coffee table in the center. A fire is burning in the fireplace giving it a gentle tone to the humble house and a small kitchen in the back which also leads to the smith shop. A elaborately decorated shield is placed above the fire place surrounded by roses and a cross and on the shield is a portrait of a beautiful woman, possibly in her late 20s wearing a beautiful blue dress, smiling, under the portrait is the engraving "Ameila Drakur". Under the shield, on the mantlepiece lays a simply designed sword with a small barrel going down the center and a trigger on the hilt.

"Now Shem, go make some tea and Ill keep your guests company" He plops down on a rocking chair and gesters them to sit.

Shem sighs, "yes sir." He sits Gleipnir down by the fireplace and walks to the back in the kitchen.

Aeden takes a seat. Aeden starts to gaze around the room. "You have a beautiful home, Sir. Did you design it yourself?"

"Of course I did! What do you think I am? A slacker like my son"

Shem walks out of the kitchen with tea. "Here you guys go" He turns to his dad and asks "Hey dad, can I use youre smithshop? Gleipnir is acting weird and I think its the engine..."

WHAM! Marshall slams Shem's head with a wrench this time. "You broke Gleipnir?!" He sighs, "yeah, go on ahead, but if I find a wrench out of place, it's the hammer again" he says lifting his hammer.

"Y-yes sir!" He turns and picks up Gleipnir and then turns to Kaitlyn and the others, "You mind chilling out with my pops here?"

Lucina laughs" Yes that'll be fine Shem. I'm kind of liking it here. I haven't been to Vale in a while." She crosses her legs and puts her hand on the couch signalling Aeden to hold it.

Aeden smiles at Lucina and holds her hand. "Mr. Drakur, I noticed a shield and sword over the fireplace. If you don't mind me asking who is the person on the shield?"

Kaitlin doesn't listen to the conversation assuming it's Shem's late mother since the mother hasn't greeted them...

Shem nods and walks to the smithshop.

A smile forms on Marshall's face, and not like the smile before, a different one. He quietly stands up and picks up the shield off the wall and sets it on the table. "This is my dear Ameilia, my wife. She died when Shem was around 13. She was too sick to leave the house so she took care of Shem most of the time." He chuckles, "Shem loved her. Even when that infernal Ragnarok came out, all she did was hug him and the rage settled..." A tear comes from the corner of his eye. "I made this shield in her honor, so she can always protect Shem from harm." He plops down back into his chair, looking at the shield, "You know, Shem isnt our son, Ameilia was out one night and a woman gave Shem to her, I dont know the full story but since a baby we raised him." He strokes the portrait lovingly, finally brushing dust off the portrait showing cat-like ears coming out of Ameilia's head.

Beautiful craftsmanship" Lucina says looking at the shield with amazement. This is fantastic" She says. Lucina then looks up at the portrait and smiles

Aeden hands squeezes Lucina's slightly more. "Its obvious you really loved her. I'm sorry for your loss, she seemed like an amazing person."

Marshall nods, "You bet she was, she just didnt control Shem's little angry tandrums, She also stopped me, 'a little love to stop the rage' was her motto". Marshall gets up and grabs the sword, "This thing, is Shem's first creation." He holds the sword carefully, handing it to Aeden, to show the detail of the sword. "He made that when he was, about 10."
