Name: Lan Lin - 連藍／连蓝

Age: 14, nearly 15.

Gender: Male

Symbol: He doesn't want one. Yet.

Appearance: 160-170 CM (Well, he's still growing!) in height, around 50kg in weight. He has black hair and dark brown eyes. Usually, he's seen wearing blue clothing. Rarely does he wear armor, although if needed he will.

Personality: Lan is a loner. Simple. He has a low self esteem, an inferiority complex, and usually remains silent. Many times, others will call him nice but quiet, but should he open up to some, this quiet side of him will turn into a person who is loud, obnoxious, and desperate for fun. While usually plain and blank, he is in fact very emotional. Mentally, he's actually quite clever, though his self doubts, and the fact that he's never walked into such situations means he isn't really that clever. He does have an ingrained sense of righteousness, but his low self esteem dictates him to never have anything he truly wanted to try out.
Giving up, for him, is just a step ahead.

Usually, he gives of a carefree and almost careless attitude, enjoying daily life as it is, with the thought of 'if it sucks now, focus on the future, but if the future's gonna suck, then you might as well enjoy now.' However, his sense of duty and responsibility contrasts this, and while he's lazy and really hates it, he still feels like he has to keep his team - and those around him - out of trouble. Almost always, any and every conflict around him creates an inner conflict within him, where he can't decide whether to do something, or let it go. Luckily, this isn't the same when the conflict is between man and grimm.

History: Parents who always leave for business trips and being bullied at school means that Lan has lived in a closed shell for the past few years, preferring to be himself, playing games, listening to music, reading books, etc. The one thing he's most proud of his finding his weapon, one which was, arguably, luck. Without the mental support, his happiness quickly dropped, and to compensate Lan continuously convinced himself of things otherwise, thinking that he was "happy" and "fine" with simply watching others play. Even though he did have a few friends, there's an acknowledgement hidden deep down that he simply doesn't like how he was at right now. Due to that, Lan decided to just run.

Where?

The one place where people learned to create a future - Beacon. Of course, there still was years before he was supposed to be able to apply....

So entering was a different story. Searching ahead, he managed to impress the grounds janitor, Kirkka, in single combat, granting him the lucky chance of access into the school, where, either by a miracle or by an Ozpin who simply wanted to look cool like he was curious, he became leader of Team SDJL. Ironically, albeit having wanted to get into the school, now that he was in, there wasn't anything he truly felt like he was motivated in doing.

Strength: Talented and fast, should he ever 'get in the mood' depending on what it is he's doing. His physical and mental capabilities are in truth quite powerful. Not the strongest, he is more lean, able to take hits. His endurance isn't that great, but when he does have something to fight for, when he does let his emotions control himself....

Arguably one of his greatest capabilities lent from his agility is his skill in body positioning. A high reaction time coupled with natural balance means that he can be very fast, slink around places, and pick himself up. This skill of his comes naturally, but its still untrained.

Semblance: Lightning. Lan has the ability to create, control, manipulate and absorb lightning/electricity by drawing upon and unleashing his Aura as his Semblance. The natural side effect is control over electromagnetism - however, this power is about the same as 'the ability to control hot air when cooking'.

His control over electricity allows him to create electricity of any size. These bolts of electricity can be controlled in shape and form in any way, and can also be conducted through materials that have the ability to conduct electricity. Apart from creating shocks, Lan can also control electricity in other ways, including creating an energy-based electrical shield in mid-air, or using it has light, or channeling it through his sword.

Alongside this, his powers of electromagnetism come from the simple fact that lightning is from flow of electrons - which are negatively charged. Because it is simply a natural side effect of electricity, rather than actual control over magnetism, what he can/can't do is limited by his control over lightning itself. A person who can manipulate magnetism itself will be infinitely better. This can be described as a power that's strong but, inaccurate.

With his Semblance being Lightning, his Aura has had simple, small unique abilities - it grants him a slight increased resistance against other electrical attacks, although electrocution would still be electrocution. Also, Lan can absorb lightning for energy, although he wouldn't have the time to do it if he were simply whacked by a lightning bolt. The energy absorbed it also just a fraction of the energy released.

While his Semblance/Aura draws on his "life" energy and his physical energy comes from food, they do sap from one another. Using too much of his Semblance can physically tire him out, and being tired makes it harder and harder to create electricity.

(Note: His Semblance is pretty much the power of Toa of Lightning.)

Weakness: While he does have the physical weakness of a right knee that suffers from a bone disease (Something like Osgood-Schlatters in real life), his greatest weakness is his low self esteem. At the moment, his semblance is untrained, unhoned, and...crap. Unfortunately, this crap means that he can easily draw too much, and end up crapping himself.

(Note, when his character progresses, I plan to change his weapon as well. Naturally, I'll update it.)

Name: Dual Victorize

Primary Form: Hand-and-a-half sword.

Secondary Form/Function: The weapon uses a very high-tech particle dispersal system that allows it to both be charged with Dust, and disperse it in other locations. Lan is certain that there are still unexplored capabilities of this dispersal system, but he hasn't really....found it. Apart from particle dispersal, Dust can also be channeled through the two blue transparent cylinders that extend from the hiltguard, in a linear, almost rifle-like way. Simple things like walls, or linear blasts of energy, can be achieved, but full control over an element won't reach the same capability as a Semblance can.

The weapon has a second form, where the blade sinks towards the hilt. If you see the image that may or may not work, the upper blades move down to fill the 'hole' in the blade beneath it, then that moves down, so-on and so-forth.

Obviously, as it uses particle dispersal, the sword doesn't ever use dust crystals for power, only dust in powdered form.

Electric Dust is used as a supplement to his Semblance, like additional batteries to a fly-zapping racquet.

Tertiary Function: When his Semblance, Aura and Electric Dust are all used together, and spread in a distance, the electrical signals allow telepathic communication within a certain range. When this happens, though, it drains his own energies heavily, and prevents him from using Dust OR his Semblance.

History: Lan found it. He's pretty sure it was destiny. More to be revealed.

Your rough sketch looks great to me! Are you a student at a school? 14 is young to be in Beacon, but possible and if you want that you will have to explain that further. Also, the history on your weapon is very short and mysterious. Could you include more detail? If you have more detail about it that you want to keep hidden, you can PM me with details.

I plan on having him just ~~stowaway~~ enter into Beacon, not apply for it as a student. Then we see where that goes! As for the weapon history, I'll PM it. I've edited the main post to change the weapon history to something more reasonable with what I sent, and I've also added the note that for him, right now, Aura is out of the question.
