CHARACTER
Name: Terra Denizen
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Symbol: Diamond in front of two crossing pickaxes with a bat on top.
Occupation: Fugitive, escaped from indentured servitude as a miner
Appearance: Height: 5'7" Weight: 145 lbs; Terra is a strong and lean girl. She has long straight black hair that she ties into a ponytail. She wears a Miners helmet with two holes on the top for her bat ears and dark glasses. She wears a brown long sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows and plain black cargo pants. Although she doesn't like to admit it, she has a stubby bat tail hidden away under her pants. Additionally, she often wears a heavy leather apron to serve as minor armor. Terra is almost never seen without a spot of dirt or coal dust on her. On her back and across her chest, she has a black strap for carrying her weapon.
History: Terra was born and raised as a slave, like her parents before her. Terra spent her entire life digging and mining dust crystals for the Schnee Dust Corporation, an indentured servant, paying off her long dead parent’s contracts. When she was 10 years old, both her parents were killed in a cave-in caused by an explosion. Terra had heard stories of the outside world, the sky and landscape. In fact, she had never left the mines and, being born blind, had never even seen light. After it was apparent that she would be mining to the end of her days, Terra began plotting her escape, finally earning her freedom on her 17th birthday, when she was beyond the walls of the mines and the senses of the guard dogs she walked the world a free woman. Her freedom from hunger however, had not been claimed, and she soon found herself begging for food on the city streets. Eventually, she overheard some people about her age talking about a combat school called “Beacon” A building that gave out free food and shelter for fighting? It wasn’t long before Terra slipped her way into the ranks of the students, living off the school pretending to be a student.
Personality: Terra is a social butterfly; she had to be in the mines where a good friend can be the difference between being denied a meal and being shot. She is very confident in her own skill, although this is mostly lying, as she is an excellent miner, but a lousy fighter compared to the students of Beacon. Terra was never formally educated, so she isn’t particularly smart, except when it comes to deception.
Strength: Terra may not be the best fighter, but she can hold her own in a scrap. She is very durable and tough thanks to spending most of her life swinging a pick. Thanks to her bat ears and echolocation, Terra has excellent hearing and sneaking up on her is very difficult. Light based attacks and the like have no effect on Terra thanks to her blindness.
Weakness: Terra cannot make out specifics with her echolocation, only vague shapes. Terra isn’t a very good fighter. When her lies fall apart, Terra often flounders and panics. No matter what situation she is in, Terra is almost always tired, and has been known to fall asleep at inopportune times.
Semblance: Echolocation
Terra’s aura constantly makes a screeching noise that is inaudible to humans, giving her a 360 degree view of her surroundings.
WEAPONName: Treasure Trove
- Spoiler:
Primary Form: Treasure trove is a pump-action, sawed off shotgun with a pickaxe attached to the barrel. The points of the pick are tipped with fire and kinetic dust.
History: Terra never had any experience with weapons or tools beyond her trusty pickaxe, so when she learned of Beacon’s existence, Terra knew she would need a fancy weapon to blend in, so she stole a shotgun, all the dust crystals her pockets could carry, and a blowtorch and went to town. Within a week, her clumsily made masterpiece was finished.
