It was something of a surprise when the dog girl took up the argument that the gunner was apparently putting down. Didn't matter much to Balthazar, though. Someone to argue with was someone to argue with. This one was even getting amusing. Here she was seemingly trying to compare herself to him. How quaint. Still, it was fuel to the fire that Ba'al welcomed. "Oh," he chuckled as she stormed past him, "So you must be the half, then." Referring to his comment about their inexperience and general demeanors. Which would make Brady the full, but he didn't bother saying that. It was implied.

"Aye, useless. Having no use. In this case, having no use for." He defined and emphasized. "If yeh'd pay attention you'd comprehend, ye daft bint." As he said. He had no use for them. "Your capabilities and presumed experience are meaningless." That, however, was when Fei interrupted, halting Ba'al in his verbal tracks as he looked on at his partner when she walked in between he and the gunman. Her interject would have been an interesting turn of events if she hadn't implied what she did. That he somehow needed protection at the hands of Brady, or that he would bother protecting someone he quite well viewed as expendable.

It was the gunner comment that really got him however. Gunners, specifically. There was only one obvious gunman here. "Lass, what the **** are you on about? She's a sword and a bracer." His argument directed at Rachael seemingly forgotten in that moment as he spun around to look on after Fei as she walked off. He had seen her smile before. It had no effect on him or his speech one way or the other.

Then, of course, said gunner walked past him as well. Well, then.... Tossing his hands up in minor exhasperation he headed back down the tunnel a short ways and slashed one diagonal mark into the corner just before the turn. He didn't like using his sword for this while charging dust as it both wasted a small amount of that which he had charged and risked compromising the structure of the wall, but he had little choice. What choice he did have was to amend his system and only make one grating, echoing slash into each side of the corner. The ice he left behind would remain there for some time, but he'd know which way they went.

Once that was done, his head swiveled around and stared down the 'straight' option. For several moments he considered walking off and leaving them to their own devices. He didn't need them. And they could be heading the wrong way for all they knew. Innumerable threads of thought later, he settled on two things. One: he'd already made his mark indicating the path they'd chosen, and so left his own path improperly and or confusingly marked. Two: he wasn't quite prepared to abandon Fei. If she threw her lot in with them when push came to shove, he would most likely be compelled to sever what minute ties he felt with her and return to his solitude.

However, this was not that time.

Quickening his pace to a fast, long strided walk, Balthazar quickly caught up to Brady... and walked right past him.

When Rachael heard that the girl offered to protect her she didn't respond. She could protect herself just fine and the girl would figure that out soon enough. She didn't feel the need to elaborate on this though, she was starting to realize talking to them would only cause more issues. From then on she decided she'd ignore the others completely as to not cause anymore drama. Rachael wasn't in the mood for it right now.

This was getting boring for her. She really wished something interesting would happen soon. Or even better, they could find the exit and she could be done with these nuisances. She really hoped they would learn to leave her alone. She was already sick of them and was ready to throw up.

It was a simple thing she had asked of the two, something she knew Brady would follow but not her partner Balthazar. She had fulfilled her objective nonetheless, having kept the group moving instead of stalled in the middle, so close yet so far away from their unknown objective. Sighing, she silently wondered to herself as to why it had to be like this; that it could not simply resolve itself was a hopeful yet childish and naive thought. Sliding the shaft of the spear under her right arm, her eyes widened a bit as she finally noticed a gentle beeping coming from her person. With her left hand free, she pulled out the digital scroll from within her sash and pulled it open with her mouth. There was a message accentuated over the see-through screen, an announcement of sorts that displayed some warning of one of the species of Grimm inhabiting these tunnels.

Reading it through, she nodded and accepted that her preliminary assumptions about the eel-like creatures were right, though she had expected the toxin to spread through bite and not external sources. Fei was now thankful that Balthazar had cleared out most of them and that they had a means of further avoiding the water by means of artificial transportation. Though Brady and Rachael did not seem to like Balthazar very much, she had nothing but the utmost confidence and respect of both his skills and initiative actions. Even if his personality and interaction with others still needed some work, she did not mind it. Perhaps that was the flaw of the new group. They could not look past Balthazar's grating personality flaws.

Pushing the scroll against her stomach, she closed it shut again and slipped it back snugly into her sash. Turning her head, she looked back towards Brady and Balthazar, whom was already near enough for her not to raise her voice too much. "Balthazar, Brady. You will want to see what's on your scrolls," She said before turning her head forwards to face the ever silent and brooding dog faunus. "You too, Rachael."

She then quickly added. "I'm not sure if it will apply to us any longer since we are on land, but at least we now know the methods we each used to traverse the water was logical and tactically sound, yes?"

Brady flicked his scroll open prompted both by its beeping, and by Fei's insistance. He read the short explanation with interest before snapping the device shut.

"huh. So that's what those slithery things were. good thing they don't take well to boiling, or we could have had a tougher time fighting those Burrowhams earlier, eh Rach?" He asked, his voice raised enough for his partner to hear.
he glanced up at Balkathar, or whatever she'd just called him
'alright... lets try this one more time.' he thought to himself, hoping to be able to at the very least have some semblance of a civil conversation with his new teammate.
"did you two run into any of these "toxicanths" before we met up?"

Noticing the surprisingly, comparatively subdued beeping of the devices at roughly the same time Fei had, Ba'al's free left hand was already digging into his shirt at the neck. Unfortunately, it seemed that his selected pocket for the device was... inefficient. The thing had slid down across the metal bar that hugged tight to his chest and had settled just under his left pectoral. It took the red-head a minute as his partner spoke up-- logical and tactically sound didn't exactly describe his assessement of the bridge the other two had made, but...-- to extricate the blasted thing with an annoyed flourish and whip it open.

Taking an uncannily short amount of time to read the message, "Well it's about ****in' time." He said loudly from a few feet behind Fei, his stride having slowed to like pace with the others while he putzed with the device. "Took those rat ****s long enough ta document 'em. Looks like we were both right, Lass." He referred to a conversation they had had back in the initial tunnel whilst the silver haired girl had been sitting on his shoulders. They had been discussing the disconcerting nature with which a mole had died with little to no intervention from either of them. It wasn't a comforting revelation.... Yet another species of Grimm that was not physically imposing, but still deadly. It was beasts exactly like these eels which made Balthazar's job both boring and hazardous.

As quickly as it had been opened, the device was closed and stuffed back down his shirt with no regard for it's apparent tendency to migrate. Ba'al's pace quickened once again, and, moments later, was ahead of Fei. That, however, was when the Gunner called up from the back. An irrelevant question... but one Ba'al deigned to answer out of complete lack of anything better to do at the moment. "Aye, dozens." Was the vague answer that was left hanging in the air for a moment as he closed in on Rachael. ...Well, in terms of being in lead, anyway; he was still six feet off to her right. "****'s were hidin' in tha drink. Didn't even know they were there. Electrocuted tha ****in' water outta basic precaution. Fried up more than I cared about bleedin' countin'." His tone was flat. Bored. Simple information conveyance. It wasn't an exciting story.

As Balthazar regaled the tale of the second five minutes of his and the little woman's adventures, he would-- provided no one was going to fight him for the position-- pass by the other sword wielder and keep right on walking. If he kept up this pace, he'd leave the lot of them in the dust. Which, of course, didn't really bother him any. Being in the front suited him just as well as being in the middle or the back. All that the pole position meant was that he had less bodies to bypass when there was **** that needed obliteration. And, of course, it separated him from Brady by many yards. Apparently Balthazar Raghnall Kael was not one to be taking orders... even from someone he didn't hold in disdain. That did not bode well at all.

Reaching into one of the pouches on her belt, she quickly pulled our her scroll and spun it in her hand for a second before opening it. Sure enough, there were was an update about new Grimm which she was sure Brady and her already encountered. They didn't really get a good look at them though, since the electrocuted water killed them and singed their skin to the point where they probably looked nothing like their normal selves. It was probably for the best though. When Brady attempted to talk to her, she didn't reply. Rachael kept walking forwards with the intention of getting through this as fast as she could. Impatience was filling her heart, making her wish the end was right around the corner. It wasn't though, and that made her even more impatient.

When the man passed her she didn't argue with it. He could die first for all she cared. She only slowed her pace so she was closer to the other two than him, trying to put distance between them. She was tired of him already, and to top it off she felt like he was giving her a headache.

It seemed the quiet and young Fei had devised a small plan in regards to how their new team would work. Knowing how her partner was, this sort of formation worked out well in their favor in that he, Balthazar and his methods aside, looked the most sturdiest and strongest of sword arm. Brady was methodical, slow to move and easy to stop, but looked relatively capable of using the rifle in his hands. Rachael, on the other hand, seemed the most viable candidate for showing off her skills in combat rather then flaunting it about. She smiled as Rachael seemed to edge closer to herself and Brady, rather then attempt to stay ahead or close to Balthazar. All comments aside, this team did not seem very well in-sync with each other.

If they did finish this initiation, still intact and together, then perhaps there would still be some hope of future relations being improved between the three of them. Was it wrong of her that she didn't feel any such ill-will towards Balthazar? He had been nothing but what any warrior would do given an unfavorable situation such as this. Stuck wandering around in the dark instead of being given a clear, defined objective, having to use cheap tricks to traverse dangerous terrain from the most innocent looking of creatures. Fei knew she had been taught proper military small-team tactics, yet this knowledge did not make itself apparent until soon after this misshapen group came together. This she could remember.

Looking back towards Brady, then forwards towards Rachael, she wondered what would have happened if they'd taken another path. Would Balthazar have found people more suitable to his qi? Or would it be the same regardless of which path they took? Resting her head gingerly against the cool metal shaft of her spear, she pondered these questions and more as to what they would do later on in the near future. They all walked with a silent purpose, she knew this. We must finish this initiation. Together, if only temporarily. She silently thought to herself, cinders of a fire beginning to burn in her heart.

The team of extremely mismatched students continue walking, likely in silence. The terrain is evening out, and the cavern is getting wider. The fog seems to be dissipating as well, giving the students clear lines of sight. They continue like this for a decent period of time, having no way to distinguish the passage of time itself.

After a good while, they come across a fairly large doorway, with the doors open towards them. Beyond, they see a gigantic cavern, significantly larger than any other part of the cave they've seen. It appears to have around a three-hundred foot diameter, with an even taller ceiling at the center point. The ground seems splattered with blood and scorch-marks, perhaps signs of recent combat.

After a few moments, the sound of scales slithering against smooth stone can be heard, amplified by the size of the cavern. It seems like the students will be encountering something else in this giant area, which may or may not be an advantage for them.

Quote :
OOC: Amber said they've been walking 1-3 hours. I'm going on the assumption of 2 hours, and am jumping the post order as Ba'al would get there some distance ahead of the others.
It was a long, horrendously boring walk. Just endless paths and branches leading who knows where? Whether those now almost out of sight behind him bothered to keep up conversation or not was of no concern to Balthazar. He kept to his twisting, twisted thoughts and the continual charging of his golden katana, the only sounds coming from him for very much of the journey being the steady quick paced steps he'd used to gain this lead and a somewhat concerning humming that seemed to be issuing from the hilt of the blade. Ba'al had never charged this must dust at once. The mounted swirling of white more than obscured the weapon, and the arm holding it had taken to being held completely away from his body while his steady walk kept him well on the left side of the tunnel, keeping the blade away from the opposite wall.

So long, in fact, was the walk... so bored was he, in the absence of anything to skewer or flash freeze, that the mind underneath that messy shock of red hair began to warp and lapse into the beginnings of a madness of bloodlust. Balthazar wanted nothing more than to kill something, anything. As the tunnel they trudged through widened, the echo of his footsteps worsened, creating a beat to which his mind began to march. A beat to which, in his ever increasing boredom driven desire to fight, a song was formed.

"Total Slaughter," He sang, low but clear, a gentle lyricism colored by what would seem to be minor insanity brought to the words. "Total Slaughter." His voice grew louder, the strange, melodyless song echoing off of the stone walls. "I won't leave... a single Grimm... alive. La di da di dai, Genocide.... La di da di dud, an ocean of blood." A grim song, indeed. "Let's begin... the killin' time." His desire to kill verbalised.

The gruesome, if simplistic expression of the scarred Hunter's boredom was most assuredly scheduled to repeat as their trek continued. Fortunately for any listening, it was headed off by a development. A doorway. A massive, open, set of doors. Which was quite possibly the most fitting and ominous structure they could have found down here. A structure that he almost immediately began laughing at. Quiet at first, merely a chuckle, it grew quickly into a raucous laughter as Ba'al stood some twenty from the mysterious doorway.

As the others would have approached from out of the gloom, Ba'al's laughter would largely abate. Turning to face them, he'd swing his arms wide, the precariously charged weapon wooshing dangerously through the air, threatening to discharge a catastrophic quantity of ice dust all at once. "Lad and lasses," He'd address with a giddy flair, the remaining mirth in his chest permeating his words, "If THAT isn't a boss room, then I don't ****en' know what is." His still empty left hand whipped back over his shoulder as it had a habit of doing, pointing to the oh so inviting open doors. He almost expected there to be a large glowing orb floating in place a short distance away.

The laughter faded finally as he'd turn to face the breech. Inhaling deep through his nose, he could smell the distinct aroma of gore mixed with ash. The scent the blackbirds swooned over: Battle. The smile stretched across his face could hardly be any larger. "Alright, listen up, yeh dry ****es." He called back to the remainder of this 'team'. "Whether you stay the **** out of me way or deign to get in it, yeh will stay out of the way long enough for me to fire this," His right arm lifted higher, the massive dust charge utterly blatant in its presence around the sword, "Or yeh will be blasted directly into the next ****in' ice age, ya ken?" Though the excitement was clear in his voice, his words were deadly serious. His sword had now been charging for what he could only guess was two hours. The entirety of the ice dust crystal in his blade would be depleted with this blast. Anyone who was caught in its detonation would not survive.

That warning established, Balthazar would resume his quick walk directly into the gratuitously massive chamber.

Rachael followed the same paths Ba'al had, still keeping her distance for several reasons. Every half an hour she established a new reason to stay away from the maniacal murderer who walked far in front of them. The reason for this half an hour would be because he was more than clearly insane. There was evidence of this already, yes, but now he was singing to himself. About murder. The entire time they'd been walking, Rachael would flicker her semblance on and off to check on the man's aura, but it was almost unbearable to feel. Whenever she felt it, she could literally feel herself become more and more aggressive, as if this man lusted for battle so bad that he literally had an aura of aggressiveness. Rachael wondered if she could even use her semblance in combat anymore. If she did, she'd run the risk of being affected by Ba'al.

Not only did the singing prove he was insane, but they eventually came to a set of doors in which Balthazar proceeded to laugh at almost maniacally. He then turned around, proclaiming that the doors were clearly a sign that they were going to get into a big fight. For once, she agreed with him. And she did heed his warning about getting in his way, especially with his sword charged up like that. She didn't want to get in the way of whatever that was anyways.

"I'll keep that in mind when we get in there." Rachael said in response to Ba'al's warning.

She checked the gauges on her sword and made sure the dust in her two gauntlet chambers were full with a sigh. Rachael looked at the room in front of them, only to be greeted with darkness. She gave her night vision a few seconds to kick in. Being a faunus did have it's perks sometimes. The room looked massive, and she wasn't sure her semblance could reach from one end of the room to the other. She might have to use her gauntlet's second effect to be able to scan the whole room, but she decided against it. It only took ten minutes for her gauntlet to deplete itself, and that's when she wasn't using it as a weapon.

"Are we going then? It's not like we have a choice anyways." She said before walking towards Ba'al, but standing a good fifteen feet away. "You first, I don't want to be near that when it goes off." she said, motioning towards his weapon that was looked like it was about to explode. "Hurry up, I want to kill whatever is in there within the next year, please and thank you."

It seemed to stretch on forever, this tunnel and many other tunnels seemed to be infinite in length and Fei almost wondered if there wasn't an end to their path. Little did she know, the end was close at hand, but the trial of getting through had yet to come. Though at this point her legs and arms were aching, her chest was still filled with vigor and confidence, it gave her a boost knowing they'd made it this far without any further incident or clashes. Having not been far off from Rachael and given to the circumstances of their location, it was not difficult for her to make out Balthazar's increasingly audible "song" echoing off the walls. Even as his behavior was a little disconcerting and worrying, Fei thought nothing of it and simply passed it off as too much blood lust developing. She knew of cases like these, having lived so long and so far on the edge of a sword, fighting and fighting; such warriors of peerless skill and confidence developed "symptoms". Withdrawn, introverted, slightly psychopathic if not sociopathic tendencies bordering on homicidal, and she had no doubt that Balthazar's warnings however babbling it might have seemed. He would not hesitate or stop that swing even if all three of them were in front of him.

It was both a tactical and sound decision she had made, knowing of Balthazar's personality despite having only spent a few minutes or so conversing with him. He was and still is the best candidate for the vanguard, the charge, the shock trooper of them all. The berserker, if she even went so far as to call him one at this moment. Why this knowledge suddenly pooled from her head was strange but reassuring to one as insecure and quiet as herself. Whatever happened at this moment, whatever was behind that door, and whatever would happen to them from this point on. Fei knew that it would change all of them, for better or worst, for right or wrong, she gripped her spear and felt a cold chill going through her body as if the ghosts of the once living passed through her being, patiently waiting for her to fall, for her spear arm to falter and her heart to quiver and hesitate when faced with grim adversity.

Realizing her own weakness, she tightened the grip on her spear, instinctively holding it to her chest as the reality of what they were about to face dawned down upon her. Until now, she had not used her spear once, in combat or otherwise. She had used it as a tool, a grim and shameful thing, as an oar and a torch. Sighing, she passed by Rachael in her thoughts and followed on after Balthazar.

"wonder what's got him so... is happy the right word? whatever" Brady wondered as Ba'al broke out in his spontaneous musical number. He wouldn't call it a "nice" change, but hey; it was something.

He finally meandered past the large open doors, and grinned lazily as he passed through the open portal. "looks like we're finally gettin' somewhere guys." He said as he set himself up slightly off the the right of the group. He raised his rifle as he scanned the room, sweeping from left to right. His vision in the dark was pretty poor by faunus standards, but he could still probably see slightly better than the two human counterparts of their team, and it was hardly fair for them if only He and Rach could even see the thing He could hear putzing aroung out there.

"Heads up guys, we're not alone... one sec, flare goin' up." He said as he adjusted a few settings of his burn dust chambers before crouching, aiming high and squeezing the trigger. the resultinig shot was a tightly compressed chunk of dust that would bleed off light and heat for about two minutes or so. the flare flew high, lighting much of the wide space they were in before plunking down in the center, glowing brightly.

The sound of scales slithering against rock continues. Brady's flare allows them to get a glimpse of the creature, spotting a dark grey reptile of some sorts. More detail will have to wait, however, as the flare's illumination of the creature quickly fades as it continues it's descent.

Within a few moments, they manage to get a better glimpse at the creature. It's a fairly large lizard, perhaps forty feet in length, standing perhaps twenty feet from toes to head. It appears to be around thirty feet wide at it's widest point, being the belly. It is covered in dark grey horns, has a rather short tail, and is very clearly not blind, considering it's eyes appear extremely active, taking in all four of the students.

Indeed, it's already heading towards the students... and fairly quickly, considering the size of the beast. As it does so, another three of them appear to be coming from other areas in the cave... leaving each student with one.

Head twitching left as the burst of flame was fired, Ba'al noted that aspect of Brady's gun. A note that was catalogued in two places in his brain: Potential Sicarius modifications and, the less important, Teammate capabilities. Looking up for a moment, he traced the trajectory of the flare as it arced up close to the momentously vaulted ceiling. Eyes falling onto the target as the natural course progressed. A note of approval rose from Balthazar's chest. A drawn out 'hmm'. Clearly not the salabinders mentioned in the summation files, this satisfactorily large creature was likely the other of the 'at least two unknown Grimm'. Squat for it's size. Wide. Horned. ...And rather quick. The Grimm seemed vaguely familiar, but he couldn't place it.

Beginning to walk towards the beast-- he had stopped a short distance inside the room--, it took only moments for the other THREE of the same creature to come into sight from the far shadows of the unevenly lighted chamber. Stopping dead, the grin on the face of the man widened to it's utmost. The laughter which had died out a short while ago returned with a serious gusto. It quickly rose to a level which echoed far and wide across the domed room as the swordsman's body began to glow a rich, multi-hued gold. His aura flowed and swirled at a pace and manner that became increasingly violent as it spread outward, consuming the air around the positively ecstatic blood knight.

Cue the music.

As the laughter reached it's peak, Balthazar's battle-hungry aura flared heavily as he roared at the top of his lungs: "THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR!!" With that, he was gone. The only thing that remained where he had stood was the glowing golden wisps of aura that lagged behind in a dissipating trail as he and his magnified speed bolted off to the team's left. The first gigalizard was close at hand of the team by that time, but the luminescent speed demon was now a good distance off to its right side, somewhere between it and one of the others.

With a vicious shout his right arm lashed through the air, his weapon with it. Balthazar gave the beast no time to think or alter course. The positively mammoth charge of ice dust was launched directly at the right side of the lizard with intense speed. When it hit, the blast of arctic dust would quickly spread and engulf whatever it hit-- the massive Grimm, most likely-- in crawling ice. The entire remainder of the crystal of the sword had been discharged. Even if the creature survived the eruption that would encase the thing in a thick layer of ice, both limbs and huge chunks of the flesh on its right side would be completely frozen, straight through to the marrow. Frost bite was a gross understatement.

With any luck, there would now only be three giant Grimm to deal with. Though with his ice dust wholly expended, those remaining would be more difficult to deal with.

Rachael watched as the flare rose high above their heads, illuminating part of one of the creatures in the room. It was scaly, so it was must have been a reptile. She assumed that meant they had hard scales, and as such would be tough to puncture. That's what she assumed anyways. As the flare reached the ground and the Grimm came into view, Rachael clutched her sword in her right hand, the gauntlet on her left hand tightened into a fist. They were lizard like and quite large. They seemed fast too which would likely pose to be a problem later.

"Great..." she mumbled as she watched Ba'al charge a Grimm directly. Her expression didn't change when his sword let loose the massive charge of dust. Instead she sighed and turned around to face one of the Grimm to the left. She looked it over, noting it's proportions and physical stature. Speed already posed a problem, and they might have some other abilities she wasn't aware of. They'd have to wait for them to use them before they could strategize around them properly.

Team battles didn't seem like an option here, since there were four students and four Grimm. Each student would have to fight their own Grimm. If multiple students focused on one the other Grimm could hit them when they weren't looking.

"Alright then." she said aloud. "I guess we each get one then." she said as she stabbed her sword in the ground and folded her arms. "Right then. Your move!" Rachael called out to the Grimm, waiting for it to make the first move. With her semblance and night vision active, her pupils were long and thin, and her eyes were now red instead of their usual yellow. She watched the Grimm, waiting for one of them to attack her first. The moment one of them so much as twitched in her general direction, she'd move to attack it with visceral force.

Snapped out of her stupor, Fei stopped in her tracks as she finally took note of the noise her ears continued to pick up but not regard until now. Her attention caught by Brady's words and the sound of the flare being shot into the air, her eyes followed the bright red dot as it soared into the sky and slowly descended back down, illuminating all it could. Eyes widened as she noticed the faint shadow of something coming towards them, the feeling she felt within as of this moment was cold hard fear. She was afraid, this fear expanding more each second as Rachael brought her attention to another of these creatures. A tingling in her left arm brought her attention to yet another creature advancing towards her, that of which caused her almost to take a step back. It, seemingly sensing her fear, stuck it's forked tongue out and almost appeared to lick it's own lips. Food, it seemed to say.

Everything in Fei's body, mind, and spirit yelled at her to run; every instinct to flee brought to bear at this moment. Legs trembled as they threatened to take off regardless of their own master, hands shaking as the sweaty grip on her spear quivered, and eyes. Her eyes glued to the monster heading towards her. .... Were it another time, another place, and another present she would have left them to die. The body ceased to shake, legs reaffirmed itself to the ground beneath, hands glided across the shaft of the spear like a wave of water pulling the graceful weapon into battle. The eyes, they burned, beneath the mask of pure white.

Swift were her feet, as she headed towards the beast, the length of her weapon held out to it's full extent; it's bladed tip digging into the floor kicking up dirt and scraping against rock. Under her breath, words were spoken menacingly towards the reptilian creature.

"Ser wa iltr, min'tan faeir."

Things where starting to move fast now, and Brady didnt like it. As he raised rifle to his shoulder, the casual observer may have noticed his pupils dilating excessively, almost encompassing his entire eye, while the truly astute may have  noticed a small ruffling of his shaggy hair
as the outside world raged on at a mile a minute, Brady's view slowed to a standstill. the goliath lizards becoming sluggish, his own teammates hardly seeming to move at all... except Ba'al... he almost seemed to be moving at a normal speed. "well that's new" Brady thought. "guy must be pretty darn quick"
He returned his attention to the immediate problem of the as of yet unnamed lizards, noting where they were in relation to each of their party members, except Ba'al. he was moving to quickly to predict accurately, So Brady just left him to his own devices.
"Anyway, let's see... i got one comin' my way, and two more over by the girls, and speedy is already past the first one... hmmm... we'll i've got .. - he checked the distance between himself and the lizard bearing down on him - a couple seconds, so that's plenty of time. how're they doing? Rach is standing her ground, alright, probably has some kinda plan. the other girl is... pissed. pissed and charging. right then, may as well lend her a bit of a hand"
to anyone else, Brady appears to have flown into a flurry of activity, firing one single shot of shock dust at the beast Fei appeared to be charging, hopefully that'd be enough to distract it long enough for her to get within range. with that done, he swung back, changing the rifle to a shotgun, flicking the selector to burn dust, and completely releasing the compression mechanism in one motion. now wielding what is essentially a powerful, if somewhat amunition innefiscient, flamethrower, Brady aims at the beast which by now is pretty much on top of him.
"right on time big guy" He thinks as he squeezes the trigger.

The result of Ba'al's actions was very fruitful. The poor lizard hit by the charge from his sword died before it knew what was going on, though it's body continued moving forward, legs snapping from the momentum. The beast's body continues moving forward for a few feet, leaving a trail of it's rapidly cooling blood where it's broken limbs are dragging.

The creature approaching Rachael, however, is slightly confused by her actions. Pausing in it's trek, it takes a few seconds to taste the air, wondering exactly what the girl is doing. Deciding that she wasn't a threat for the moment, it advances normally.

The one nearest Fei, with the girl rushing it, was not as stupid. It paused briefly, and managed to brush off the shot of shock dust from Brady, barely burning it's scales. Standing still as the girl continues rushing it, it quickly lowers it's head closer to her level before releasing the hold on one of  the sacs of blood around it's eyes, shooting at the girl. Several gallons of the sticky, acidic blood are heading straight for her.

As for the one Brady thought he could take care of, unfortunately for him, fire is rather... useless, against the beast's scales. It continues it's rampage, attempting to smash the student with the full weight of it's body.

Rachael smiled as she watched the lizard stop for a second, before continuing it's advance. Good, it was her intention to make it confused, assuming it was smart enough to be so. The first thing she was ever taught was that you should never make the first move in combat, so she took that knowledge and worked upon it. In fact it was one of her strategies in combat. The faunus girl could only smirk as the lizard continued to sprint at her. 'You can try, but you won't succeed.' she thought to herself as she prepared herself to move instantly. The moment the lizard attacked her, she would remove her sword from the ground and jump over it. From the air, she would aim down and fire upon it several times before landing behind it.

Fei's head jerked up as she noticed the stream of viscous substance heading straight for her. Unable to physically change her course due to current speed and momentum, she dug the blade of the spear into the ground and hooked her left arm around it, spinning off to the side as specks of what would've been the whole glob of blood hit the unprotected part of her left leg. Hissing, she stomped her right foot down to stop and pulled out her spear, aiming to close the distance between herself and the beast.

Brady had shut his eyes to protect them from the bright glare of the flames erupting from the end of his weapon. He'd hoped that something living in the dark would at least balk in the presence of that much fire. hell, he'd used less than this to hard-boil all those toxicanths back there in the water. So yeah, He figured that would be enough. unfortunately his opponent didn't share his optimism, and proceeded to burst through the wall of fire.

"Huh." was all he could say before the beast bashed him aside with one of its powerful legs.

He skidded a short distance across the floor, before gathering his wits enough to roll up over his shoulder, landing him in a knelt firing position. he flicked the selector to regular bullets, and the weapon itself back into a marksman rifle. one at a time he began sending shots towards the only un-scaled part of the beast he could see. its eyes.
it was only after his third shot that he spotted Fei's predicament, and why his current course of action *may* not be the best idea of his life.
