- Sage Chevalier:
Personality: Intelligent. Extremely dramatic in a theatrical fashion. Acts a lot like an exaggerated caricature rather than a person. Calm and relaxed demeanor. Skilled at playing the
mandolin and is often seen doing so; his favorite song to play is
Prelude from Bach's Cello Suite No. 1.
History: Born into a wealthy family, Sage lived most of his life being pampered in the hillsides of Vytal on his parents’ estate. His father passed away when he was only a few months old due to disease, and his mother never remarried. They owned a little over a hundred acres and lived inside a mansion, secluded from the outside world. Sage was an only child and never met other kids his age since he was homeschooled. Due to the large size of their estate, the family owned a large private security force that protected them from the creatures of Grimm. In his early life, Sage’s parents sought to teach him to play a classical instrument. After trying his hand at a few, he took a particular liking to the mandolin. Since Sage never had other kids his age to socialize with, he was forced to turn to other methods to entertain himself in his free time. Due to his parents’ large book collection, Sage took a liking to reading and grew very interested in the art of theatre, even trying his hand at writing a few plays himself. When he wasn’t reading, Sage could be found around the guards who protected the estate. To him, they resembled the heroes from all the stories he had read: noble, obedient, and courageous. Due to his odd and outgoing personality, many guards took a liking to him and trained him to fight as he grew older. When Sage was eleven years old, his mother hired a few Faunus men to act as guards and help spread racial diversity into their ranks. One of these men was a reptilian Faunus named Roan Alma. At first, Sage felt intimidated by the man’s looks, especially considering his experience with Faunus was limited. However, Sage soon found that Roan provided him with something he hadn’t had before: critique and insight for his plays and acting. While other guards and even his mother waved Sage off when he tried to perform, Roan did not object, but instead helped Sage to improve his writing and acting skills through his insight. As a result of this, Sage began to spend most of his time by Roan’s side, and the two forged a strong bond, with Sage viewing Roan as the father he never had. As they grew closer, Roan began to tell Sage of his dreams of fortune. Sage overplayed this idea as an adventure similar to the ones the heroes and treasure hunters he had read about engaged in. When Roan announced he was to leave the Chevaliers’ service soon, Sage decided he wanted to leave with him, if just to see the world. His mother had noticed the bond the two had formed over the past year and decided it was best for Sage to go with Roan; she knew she couldn’t expect Sage to stay on the estate forever, and she didn’t want him to have to leave alone. With her permission, Sage left with Roan at age twelve. Now, seven years later, the pair have arrived in Vale.
Strength: Sage’s calm demeanor allows him to remain clear-headed during encounters. Extremely quick and light on his feet, his speed allows him to be quite evasive.
Weakness: Though he moves fast, Sage doesn’t hit hard, and he can’t tank hits like most other fighters his age. It will only take a few hard hits for him to go down.
Semblance: Playwright – Sage can use his aura to activate a “threat detector” of sorts. When his semblance is active, he can predict the movements of people and Faunus, seeing their every action as though it were a stage direction. This allows him to become extremely evasive or to detect potential threats in a crowd. Only remains active for a short time in order for Sage to recover energy quickly. In extreme cases, he can extend the use of this power, but it leaves him exhausted and wide open to attacks of all sorts. This semblance does not affect creatures of Grimm, because it predicts the actions of others through a close observation of their aura, a trait that Grimm lack.
Weapon:
Name:
- The Crucibles:
Primary Form: Pair of Katar. The blades can retract and slide over Sage's arms to extend past his elbows. This switch can happen near instantly allowing for a quick change to Sage's fighting stance. They function the same from both positions.
Secondary Form/Function: The Katar have a pair of gun built into the sides of each handle. Sage can load normal or explosive ammunition into the guns. They can be fired regardless of the blades position on Sage's arms, allowing him to add extra force to punches when they are fired from the elbow.
History: Sage dabbled with many weapons before settling on the Katar. According to the guards who instructed him, he had a natural talent with them. When Sage left with Roan, he took a pair of normal Katars with him. Over the years, he modified them to the point they are at now.
Secondary Weapon:
Name:
- Schiff:
Primary Form: Sage is always carrying three poignard as an extra precaution.
History: The guards always taught Sage to be prepared for anything, even the loss of one’s weapon. Taking their words to heart, Sage equipped himself with three poignard daggers. While he typically uses them as throwing weapons, they can be used as traditional melee daggers in emergencies.
