PostSubject: Re: Pierce Michellis, Silus Dawn-Riser   Pierce Michellis, Silus Dawn-Riser - Page 2 Icon_minitimeThu Nov 21, 2013 4:32 am

"I got yer back, lad!"

Good. Silus noticed them too.

Pierce takes a few steps back as two, no, the three lizards crawl towards him.

Dammit. I was planning to take it out quickly.

Dropping the stealth strategy, Pierce unfolds the Jaegers, there bronze colored surface glinting dimly from Silus' lantern.

As the three grow ever closer, Pierce picks out the one farthest from Silus.

They don't look too fast. With the Jaegers on my feet, I could easily outrun them.

"Silus! You take that one one!" Pierce yells, pointing at the one closest to his partner.

With a metallic click one of the Jaegers latches onto Pierce's left boot, skating him quickly out of biting range and towards the side of the monster at his left.

Silus' hand looks like it can grapple like the Jaegers.

The clumsy thing probably can't keep up.

We could easily skip this entire fight.

Pierce spots his favorite target, the beast's neck, wide open.

But that'd be boring.

The buzz saw flies.

The Salabinders certainly do not look fast, not in the least. With their slow amphibious gait and their lumbering motions, the three beasts close on their chosen target. So naturally when the target comes towards them the pause, opening their mouths again to hiss.

Pierce easily can skirt about the salabinders, moving in on his chosen target. It doesn't appear too quick, stopping as he circles, its tail slithering side to side as it watches him. As he skates closer and closer they attempt to bite, multiple times, letting out rumbling hisses of frustration as he nimbly evades them. Yet when he closes in to strike a solid blow on the beast's exposed flank and neck...and as the blade cuts into slimy flesh he's met with an uncomfortable and awkward surprise.

The blade does not continue cutting until its free as it normally would. Instead something seems to be gumming it up, almost as though cutting through tar or glue. And with a rude and sudden stop it would become stuck, embedded into the wounded salabinder which hisses in pain and starts trying to struggle, reaching out to try and grip the leg of the human even as it bled from its wounds.

At the same time as this Silus' harpoon fires forward, though in the dark it is not terribly accurate. It clatters, noisily over the stone but skims one of the salabinders, enough to nick it. But as with Pierce's blade the harpoon seems to stick to the beasts flank as it rolls, hissing at the nick it receives.

Now two injured salabinders turn their attentions to the ones that wounded them, with the third crawling back towards Pierce. After all, much easier to catch prey that seems already to have been caught.

As Silus closes in on the Salabinders, he can hear his harpoon clanging against some rock, a possible sign that his shot didn't connect.

"Ah, chum!" he groans.

But right afterwards, he hears one of them hissing, as though it took damage.

"Wait, I got one?" He then lets out a brief heary laugh.

"Now ta reel in a lizard," he says before yanking the harpoon rope with Navy Mako to reel back with a caught Salabanider, not knowing of its great weight and highly adhesive blood.

However, he soon notices the rope is taut despite yanking. That lizard must be heavy, he figures. "Alright, just the harpoon then."

The sailor yanks and tugs the rope to reel back the harpoon only, but it appears to be stuck.

"Get back 'ere, ya damn harpoon!" he grumbles in frustration as he struggles to pull the harpoon off the Salabinder.

The buzzing stops with an unappetizing SCHLUCK.

What?

Pierce is surprised to find that his reliable Jaeger hasn't come back like it should. Keeping an eye on the other lizard, he tries to yank it free, even revving the blade up again. However, his efforts seem to have no effect.

"Damn. It's stuck. Now I'm literally tied to it." Pierce mutters to himself.

As he quickly skates back to a safer distance, he takes note of his partner.

"Get back 'ere, ya damn harpoon!"

So he's stuck too. It must be their blood or something. I just hope they can't spit it.

Realizing that cutting won't do any good Pierce stops a good distance from the creature to think of a plan.

I might be crazy but I don't see any other way.

His left Jaeger flies towards the cave wall, embedding into it's rough surface. A testing tug deems it secure enough for Pierce.

I'm a sitting duck like this, hopefully those things don't get faster.

The motor revs as Pierce pulls on both ends, stretching his arms wide. His muscles ache and whine but he knows they can handle it. He's put them through much worse before.

Inch by inch, the wire slowly goes back into his bracers.

The wounded Salabinder hisses, scrabbling at the ground as Pierce starts to try and pull the Jaeger back, the wire going taut as it slowly drags along the weight of the angry amphibious grimm. For a moment there's a standstill, an awkward tug of war as the heavy salabinder tugs back, even as its kindred comes in along side it.

The beasts glance to eachother, snorting and then both start to advance, allowing the Jaeger's wire to pull in, knowing it brings the wounded beast closer and closer. The non wounded salabinder however starts to pick up pace, its awkward gait just a bit faster as clawed feet scrabble on stone and it leaps, opening its mouth wide to bite at the stuck human.

The other salabinder also puts up a fight, turning its jaws to bite and tug at the binding rope, trying to force its weight so that it pulls the human toward it rather than the other way around, tail swishing back and forth.

Ok. Bad idea. Bad idea! Bad idea!

Pierce is actively pulling now, not trusting the motor to do the job on its own. Every second or so, the wire goes slack as the beast inches closer.

I can't pull it free if it keeps coming closer.

"Let go!" Pierce says, yanking on the wire. The grimm, in turn, yanks back with enough force jostle Pierce. For a moment, his feet leave the cave floor and he's suspended by his arms. He returns to the ground a second later though.

DING!

"C'mon! Is that all you got?!" Pierce starts yelling at the grimm, violently yanking at the wire all the while.

The grimm tugs back.

"I can pull ten times this weight! You think this'll stop me!?!"

Pierce tugs fiercely at the wire, jostling the beast slightly. The grimm tugs harder and Pierce is off the ground once again, his muscles screaming in protest.

One more.

The grim gives a violent pull.

Here we go!

At the same time, the Jaeger attached to the wall spins and detaches. The motor whirs at top speed retracting the one Jaeger and pulling Pierce at breakneck speed towards the salabinder, the grimm's pull only giving him a boost of speed at the start.

A foot from biting range, Pierce stomps hard on the ground launching himself above and over the salabinder, only half a foot of wire connecting him to the still Jaeger in the grimm's neck.

"LET GO!" Pierce yells pulling at the wire for what he hopes will be the last time, his body's momentum hopefully enough to get his weapon free. Or break the damn thing's neck.

Silus still struggles to free his harpoon from being stuck on the Salabinder, pulling his weight back as Navy Mako's motor revs to reel back the harpoon and his right hand also pulling by the rope. He is also aware that all this strain on Navy Mako may trigger a phantom limb pain, and now is one of the worst times to suffer that.

"LET! GO! STUPID! CHUM!" he growls as he desperately pulls the rope taut over and over.

((Apologies for delays. Family holiday plus coming down sick. ))

Pierce's efforts to tug and pull and ultimately twist the cord that keeps him stuck to the salabinder would amusingly enough see fruit. Even as the beasts try to bite and growl at him the cord twists and coils and the resulting, desperate measure and somersault result in the wounded one getting caught up, tangled and with a satisfying snap, its neck broken.

However he would still have its body stuck to the blade and in a respect stuck to him. The other beast however is somewhat confused, trying to turn with an awkward amphibious gate and trying to avoid the tangle of cord and corpse that its fellow had left beside him to no success. Tangled it stumbles over, letting out a frustrated hiss.

****

Silus' own problem is a tug of war...back and forth, the salabinder trying to tug the human to it. Yet as the Mako's motor revs the beast looks startled, its jaws going slack a moment as it tries to answer with a rumbling hiss of its own. This gives the window of opportunity to pull it forward, hard, causing it to go snout first into the ground and start dragging along. It flails about, panicked by this, unimpressed by its predicament, its belly exposed as it thrashes back and forth.

Good, that's one down. I just hope Silus is doing well too.

Pierce reels in the rest of the slack cord. Thinking of a way to both get himself unstuck and evade the oncoming salabinder, it's head cocked to one side as if wonderingly at the hell just happened.

A few revs of the motor still prove futile, the Jaeger still thoroughly stuck. Yanking once again, Pierce notices the salabinder come to the realization that it's friend won't be getting back up. The Grimm begins it's fudge towards Pierce, the dead body being the only thing in its way.

"Crap." Pierce mutters under his breath. "New plan."

Almost frantically, Pierce looks for somewhere to hide, a place to get some kind of advantage against the lizard. However, for all his efforts, he was surrounded with flat cave floor and the hulking body of the salabinder.

"Guess it's time to relocate." Pierce says, looking for somewhere else.

Too late

In his search for a better hand, pierce failed to notice the salabinder, only less than five feet away, still coming closer.

"Nowhere to hide now."

Then it happens. Pierce disappears.

Vanishes out of sight.

The tug-of-war with the Salabinder is just too strenuous for Silus, especially on Navy Mako. And he has finally had it. He eyes on a piece of rock just over twice the size of his fist and swipes it into his right hand while still pulling the harpoon rope. It has a considerable weight to it, good enough to be used as a blunt weapon. This'll do, he monologues briefly.

With the Mako still struggling to reel in the rope, Silus dashes toward the Salabinder. Once reaching a sufficiently close distance, he lunges his rock forward while shouting "YOU'RE CHUM, LIZARD!"

It's now or never. Should the Salabinder fall, Silus should be able to pull his weapon free directly by the harpoon instead of the rope.

As Pierce disappears the stuck and confused Salabinder thrashes about. Truly it was in a predicament of its own. Its fellow was dead, it was tangled up and now its prey had somehow evaded it. Naturally blind, the actual fading from sight isn't an issue...but the absence of noise throws the beast as it struggles still.

A short distance away...Silus throws himself through the air, having resorted to the tried and tested primitive method of bashing its head in with a rock. The Salabinder, having stumbled is an easy enough mark and after a few good heavy thwacks onto its exposed head...Silus would find himself having a similar problem with the rock. The creature's adhesive goo from its skin was making the process more difficult, though it was well and truly brained.

With that it collapsed, its skull a ruined mess of chipped bone, goo and gore though there was now the problem of the third, bound salabinder writhing about, waiting to be put out of its mercy and the bodies of the other two which were now acting as anchors. Surely there was something around them to try and wash the sticky goop off...

Pierce stood there, his jaw slack. Just as the grimm got close it had suddenly stopped. Looking around him showed no other target than Silus, who was busy braining his target with a rock and probably far enough for the salabinder to leave him alone.

What made it sto-

Pierce's "voice" stopped in a heartbeat when he realized no sound left his lips. He tried speaking again, only to discover that he had in fact lost his voice.

Reaching for his throat, Pierce discovers that his hands too have gone missing, though he can still feel them scratching at his neck.

Slowly, he begins to panic, wondering if this is some effect of the grimm's strange blood. He scrambles backwards noiselessly when he notices the confused salabinder. It's moving it's head around, as if it's looking for something.

It can't see me? It didn't cause this? Ok Pierce. Think. For now, I'll believe that lizard boy can't see me and this is something I did. This might be my chance to do something. The thing looks stucj and who knows when this'll wear off?

Slowly, still afraid of making noise despite his obvious silence, Pierce unreals the Jaeger's wire and carefully jumps over the salabinder, careful not to touch it just yet. He moves aroundit's body now, looping under it's neck, around it's limbs, and eventually back over it's neck.

Second moment of truth in ten minutes. Not bad. He thought, gritting his teeth.

In one smooth motion, Pierce leaped onto the salabinders back, one heel digging into the nape of its neck and the other pressing down on its head. The Gemini Jaeger reels in wire as fast as it could until it had sufficiently tightened onto its neck.

Cutting it won't help but it looks like broken bones do. I just hope this thing needs to breath too.

Clinging on with all his might, Pierce pulled at the grimm's noose.

Perhaps bashing the skull of a creature with highly adhesive blood is possibly one of Silus' dumbest ideas. Not only is his harpoon still stuck, his right hand is also glued to the Salabinder's smashed head, and he leapt out of the lantern's illumination and into the darkness of the cave. He is now stuck and blind.

"Uh, Pierce?" he called out, not knowing that his partner is hiding in cloak. "A little help here?"

He can only hope Pierce will help him soon as the other Salabinders seem to be enraged by one of their kin getting skullbashed.

"GET ME OFF THIS THING! HELP!" he shouted as he struggles to break free like before.

In the distance, Pierce hears Silus yell for help. Try as he might though, Pierce can't make any noise, his voice seemingly stopped by some unknown force.

Below him, the Salabinder struggles, jostling him a bit as he regains his footing on the beast's back and pulls even harder on the wire. He can feel some flesh giving way under it but his fight is far from over.

Once I kill this thing, I've got to figure out how to get back to normal.
