Name: Nicholas Cheshire

Occupation: Beacon Academy Student

Appearance: Nick is slightly taller than average (About 5'10”) and of average weight. His complexion is light, his hair jet black, and his eyes are a deep turquoise color. Poking out from under his thick black hair, which falls to his shoulders, are a pair of large, black feline ears, the only indication that he is not human besides slightly pronounced canine teeth (“fangs”). His face is cheerful and friendly, however there is often a predatory undertone in his features.

Nick wears dark garments, to be succinct. Black leather boots, black, turquoise trimmed pants and a long-sleeved, gray, collared shirt. Over the shirt, he wears a Victorian-style waistcoat, black and trimmed with turquoise, and a blue-green tie tucked into the waistcoat. The waistcoat is interwoven with kevlar for protection in battle. His black metal bracers, which are about eight inches in length, are worn over his shirt-cuffs, and these contain his claws. He often ties his hair back into a short ponytail with a blue-green ribbon in combat to keep it out of his eyes, but outside of combat, he usually lets it hang down.

History: Nick was born into a more-or-less struggling family. His father worked two jobs just to keep the family fed, while his mom took care of him and his big sister. As a Faunus family in Vale, he didn't always have the advantages that many human students had. That isn't to say that there was always a great degree of racism, but Nick definitely had to deal with adversity in school. In the first few years, he got into a lot of fights over it. Often enough, it was in defense of his sister, even though she was older than him.

After primary schooling, he decided that he wanted to do something meaningful with his life instead of being in a boring, low-paying job for the rest of his life. He wanted to 'get out of the gutter,' so to speak. His  sister had gone on to medical school on a scholarship by the time he'd decided this and he felt that protecting people was his calling. He'd seen Huntsmen and Huntresses before, and decided that he wanted to do that; He wanted to protect people from the monsters and evil that lurked in the world. Upon entering Signal Academy, Nick began to handle himself a bit differently; He no longer got into fights over people making fun of him being a Faunus, instead shrugging it off or even laughing along. He found that if he didn't make a big deal out of it, people tended to get bored. In order to become a Hunstman, he had to be strong, mature, and level-headed. Nick took up a part-time job with a weaponsmith (Which is where he gained his Shadow Claws) in order to save money, and worked tirelessly in his schoolwork until eventually he was accepted to Beacon Academy, to his parents' utmost pride.

Personality: Nick Cheshire is a laid-back, playful individual. Besides schoolwork, he does not express concern for very much in his life, simply letting things happen and going with the flow. He can be very aloof, however, as being as a Faunus has made him somewhat of a loner in human company. Though, like his mythological namesake, this young man is prone to smiling wolfishly quite often, and cherishes what friends he has.

Strength: In combat, Nick excels at close ranged combat with single and multiple opponents.

Weakness: Nick has almost no long-ranged combat capability whatsoever, and is therefore less efficient against ranged or flying opponents.

Semblance: Speed and agility. Nick can move so fast that he seems to blink from one location to another in a puff of smoke while using his semblance.

WEAPON

Name: HFR Weapon System a.k.a. Shadow Claws

Primary Form: Nick wields a pair of Tekko-kagi (or “Iron Claws”) which he affectionately refers to as his “Shadow Claws” that collapse into his bracers when not used. The weapons each have four blades (Or claws), one foot in length, made of ultra-hardened steel. The claws utilize Dust as fuel to vibrate at high frequencies, emitting a gray-blue haze and a keening sound that is almost too high frequency for humans to hear, that allows them to cut through most materials. This mode cannot, however, be used for long periods of time and Nick usually activates it only for a few strikes to deliver critical damage. After being used consistently for five seconds there is a twenty second cooldown.

Secondary Form:  The Shadow Claws' only ranged capability is a mid-ranged explosive Dust projectile that, upon detonation, leaves a heavy cloud of smoke. Nick must clasp his hands together and the claws will temporarily join into a cylindrical shape in order to fire. This requires a cooldown of about ten seconds after each shot.

Tertiary Form: N/A

History: The HFR (High Frequency Resonance) Weapon System was created in Atlas (some forty years prior to Nick receiving his set) by one Marcus Kalen, a prominent weaponscrafter. The weapons were most popular with martial artists specializing in quick striking combat, but slowly lost prominence over the years, as some preferred a weapon platform with more ranged capability integrated into it. Nick received his set as a gift, of sorts, from the weaponsmith that he had been working for part time. The man believed that Nick would be able to put them to good use.
