New Nerves [Open]

He’d never been that into architecture. Sure, buildings were cool and all, but they were meant to be functional first and pretty second. And yet, here he stood, staring up at a big statue and the enormous building beyond it. Beacon Academy.

Just the thought of the name was enough to twist his stomach into knots and send a chill running down his spine. Here he was, at his new school, with no idea what to expect. Sure, this wasn’t the first time he’d entered a new school, but that didn’t make the experience any less terrifying. And this was Beacon! Everyone knew Beacon, and gaining entry to the school came with high expectations—expectations Callen wasn’t confident he’d be able to meet.

Feeling restless, the teen ran his hand over his chest, stopping on the strap that secured Aries, his weapon, to his back, and immediately felt a bit calmer. Even if everything fell apart, Aries was still here with him. The boy cherished the crossbow, though he’d only had it for a short time. They fit together, and he was eager to prove that he could be a competent Hunter. Unfortunately, his chance to prove himself would have to wait. For now, he’d continue staring at this statue. Maybe it would offer up words of wisdom. Or maybe he’d just get bored. At least it was something to do while he waited for something interesting to happen.

Liseran Dormirse walked along the plaza with An Account of Vale's Wars and couldn't believe her hands were shaking as much as they were. First of all, it was pretty warm since it was the beginning of the school year and she was used to the much colder temperatures of the Clan's Keeps in the Vale Archives. Everywhere she looked, there were new people and each one of them was giving her a mini-heart attack. She sighed.

"Why am I even doing this?" she said.

She wasn't supposed to be a student. In fact, she wasn't even allowed to be here. But here she was, with Weeping Cerinthe's bells clappers silently hanging from the belt on her waist. She tried to focus on reading. She was already where the Faunus war began and she didn't like how the Faunus were trying to be put in menagerie. It was only then that the bright sunlight suddenly turned into a dark shadow on the paragraph she was reading and she noticed that she was in the shadow of someone else. A pale one with horns that was much covered with dark hair. Her breath stopped and she did the most unusual thing. She screamed.

"Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

Her book flew into the air and was aiming right at the male Faunus' head.

Hyd Draa had been walking for about two days now. He had traveled from his small village outside of Vale all the way here so that he could attempt becoming a hunter. The boy wasn’t sure how cut out he was for this deal. After all he couldn’t really see himself as a hero or some grand protector but his father did. If for no other reason than to try something out he came all the way here to train. As for the walk the boy had forgotten what time the airship would arrive therefore missed it. He had to walk all the way here because he also forgotten that there wasn’t just one shuttle out there. In the end he was extremely late and only now could arrive at Beacon.

The tanned skin boy pulled against his scaly jacket as he looked up at his new school. The sheer size alone made him uncomfortable. Tired of this huge structure the late and very sweaty boy began walking around in search of a body of water.

“There has to be some water around here somewhere…” he murmured as his bronze eyes darted left and right. He needed a pool, or a pond, or a puddle or something. Hyd wasn’t sure he wanted to be at this school anymore. The lack of a noticeable body of water made it increasingly unaccommodating environment for the water hungry boy. He continued searching around until he heard a sudden scream. His head whipped around like a whip as his eyes widened. The strangest thing was for that short second his heart was filled with what he could only describe as malicious glee. Riding that ruthless feeling the boy seemed to be suddenly moving toward the incident with his full speed. Not before long he spotted a girl – which should have been the source of the scream. And also he saw a boy with a strange look about him, even stranger than Hyd himself, he could only be a faunus.
