| As you walk down the streets of Vale, you notice flyers hung up around the city. From far away, only the symbol of a scale can be seen on the paper. You decide to take a closer look, and you see the words, " Kyronic Order Recruitment Drive!" in large letters across the top of the flyer. You seem to remember vaguely your history teacher mentioning something about the Order, but you were probably sleeping while he taught what it was. You shrug, and examine it a bit closer and you find an address where this is happening. You walk for about five minutes before coming to a small pub with a sign saying, "Kyronic Order Recruitment Drive! Inquire Inside For Details" The Kyronic Order was founded before the Faunus War following a period of tension and unrest in the four kingdoms. It's goal was to maintain the balance of power between the four kingdoms, maintain peace, as well as to help the kingdoms in the event of civil unrest or war. They also developed a prestigious medical school, as well as a branch of hospitals for the injured, sick, and infirm. They operated from their fortress, named Kyron, on an island to the east of Vale. For a number of years, they thrived, their membership growing to incredible levels, including both faunus and humans. However, once the Faunus War started, the Order was torn in half over the issue of what to do. Faunus wanted to support their people in the war, and humans wanted to support their people. tensions boiled over in the Battle of Fort Arghon, close to their island fortress.
A brawl broke out over the issue, and a faunus was killed. The faunus retaliated, attacking the humans. The fighting drew on well into the night, and when morning came, casualties were heavy on both sides. Following this battle, the Order's Headmaster expelled all faunus from the Order. After the war ended, the Order re-opened membership to faunus, but many refused to re-join, having gone and joined the faunus forces in Vale. The Order's membership has been stunted ever since, its reputation tarnished by the old Headmaster and the actions at Fort Arghon. However, recently a new Headmaster took power, and has been working to reform the Order's internal structure. He has officially apologized to both humans and faunus for the events at Fort Arghon, and assured that both races are equal within the Order. Despite these attempts, racism still exists in the Order, and faunus membership is incredibly low. The new Headmaster is making attempts to increase membership as a result of the recent threats to stability throughout Vytal. | |
