Performance at Hotel Histoire [Open]

(Takes place on the First Week)

Now, when one visits Vale and needs a place to stay, they could stay at a hotel or they could make reservations at Hotel Histoire. Then again, such a task wasn't easy. First and foremost, Hotel Histoire wasn't a place just anybody could go to. You needed certain status recognition and most people booked months in advanced. Politicians, socialites and nobles made most of the guest list and the place was extremely exclusive to this group of the population.

However, there was one week known as Open week, which happened on the week before the school year started. On open week, Hotel Histoire opened its doors for on the spot reservations for students of all sorts of combat schools, Beacon Academy in particular. Since people needed lodging before entering most schools, it was quite the privilege. The only thing necessary was an ID or a letter of Acceptance and they could pay half the price, which probably was the price of an ordinary hotel reservation . An entire building was dedicated to it and one had to be fast to get the best rooms. There were theater shows and buffet trains and pools and tubs. There were balconies of gardens and sky bridges. There was a small museum and even an observatory.

Though Mirai Cinq was had more social status than even some of the politicians staying at Hotel Histoire, she had settled to stay during Open Week. She was on a mission, after all. After an interesting stroll in town and meeting interesting people, her eyes were fixed on a certain someone. Someone she had to giver her "response" to. She had come with some other students, offering to pay for their rooms, but they were now minding their own business.

Enjoying a late afternoon tea on the terrace, Mirai put down her cup. Her two assistants, two tall oriental people in yukata, a man and a woman, were hard at work on scrolls and computers.

"I'm bored again," Mirai said. "I think you can stop that work for now and find something to entertain me."

"There are plenty of things to do, Mistress," the man named Ren said. "You can go swim, visit the museum..."

Mirai yawned.

"That's not what I meant," Mirai sighed restlessly. "I want a bit of adventure. I hope something comes up soon before I begin rolling on the floor."

"That's not very ladylike," the woman Honne said strictly.

Mirai groaned.

"Let's just hope for the best then," Mirai said. She stared down at the entrance below, watching as students entered the hotel.

Hiawatha stared and the towering complex, watching potential students stream in. The mess of a building seemed high class, with high security and luxurious attractions. Why on earth would tourists want to go to an observatory? Walking casually, Hiawatha set a course walking right next to two people chatting animatedly. When he got closer, he relaxed his posture and checked his surroundings nonchalantly before immediately falling down onto person number 1. Hiawatha sprang to his feet before offering his hand to the stranger, subtly scanning his belongings which were now scattered on the floor. "Ningle est seri?" he went, hoping they would accept his fake language without any questions. Hiawatha's heart raced as they got a quizzical look, then proceeded to pick the things up and stuff them into number 1's bag. Bowing down apologetically, Hiawatha then proceeded to grab a bunch of things out the floor and hand them to number 1 while hiding the letter of acceptance to beacon up his sleeve. With that out of the way, hiawatha mumbled some gibberish and then proceeded straight to the front desk, as though he was walking with a purpose.

Walking through the doors, he immediately slipped behind another person walking in, subtly slipping his hand into person 3's pocket and grabbing the wallet hidden inside. Turning away, Hiawatha then briskly walked to the restroom, waiting an appropriate five minutes in a stall before heading to the counter. Changing to a reasonably high pitched, easygoing tone, "Hey, Can I book a room? Its open week isn't it?" Hiawatha said pleasantly to the employee at the front desk.

The concierge, a bald man with an aristocratic nose and light colored eyes, looked down on the guest. He turned to the touch screen on the smooth marble counter and looked at it.

"It appears that we have no more reservations," the concierge said. "You've come on the last day of Open Week and it's all booked. My dearest apologies. However, you may try again later tonight in case anyone checks out. And you may roam around and enjoy the rest of the privileges as you please. But there is no room for you to stay in."

"I believe I can help with that," a calm voice came from a distance.

As the concierge looked up, a short girl with long golden hair was standing at the top of the wide, red-carpeted staircase. The girl was in an elegantly designed, Victorian-themed dress.

She looked was holding a small black fan to her face, but there was something like a satisfied smile in her eyes.

"I have a spare room reserved," the girl said. "And I'll give it to him. I'll even pay for his expenses."

The concierge looked at the girl with reverence and bowed.

"Of course, Lady Mirai."

A pleased hum cam from the girl's mouth and she looked back at Hiawatha.

"Leave your things to the servants, boy," Mirai said. "Now come and follow me. I have tea waiting."

"I believe I can help with that" Said a new voice. Turning around, he saw a short, young woman. Approximately 18, seems wealthy. A potential student? What interest would royalty have in one of the most advanced combat schools in the world? Openly generous, seems happy. Is this a publicity stunt?

"Of course, Lady Mirai". So the royal one's name was Mirai. But why would she pay for expenses. This is too much to be just a stunt of publicity, does she know something? Does she know what I've done? Hiawatha nodded his head politely and changed his voice to a lower pitched, more mature sounding voice "Thank you, M'lady".

Now come and follow me. I have tea waiting." Tea? With a stranger? Is this some sort of message? Hiawatha pondered paranoiacally as he tried to adjust his posture to match those of hers. She walked with purpose, yet maintain a social aloofness. Hiawatha re-straightened up his body as he kept a mental image of the interior security of the place. How in the world do you move that fast walking that restrictively? "So what brings you to Vytal? I myself am going to beacon." Hiawatha asked, careful to maintain his previous tone.

Mirai turned over to the new "guest" she had taken under her wing, but said nothing just yet. She eventually led him to one of the terraces she had been eating at. She headed towards two tables where two people were hard at work on their computers and scrolls. Upon arriving, they stood up.

"Lady Mirai," Ren said bowing. "Back from your small stroll?"

Honne looked at Lady Mirai and then disapprovingly at her guest.

"Another friend of yours?" Honne asked.

Mirai folded her fan and smiled.

"Yes, he is," Mirai said. "I'm being very generous today, as you can see. Besides, I don't think it's fair I have an entire floor reserved while my future schoolmates are kicked out. I do believe you remember the girl in pajamas earlier, right?"

Honne nodded and then turned to the guest.

"Have you no manners, boy?" Honne said with crossed arms. "Should you not at least introduce yourself?"

Chiyo walked into the hotel looking for a place too stay. Money was no object and there was no problem with getting her letter of acceptance, her having what was left from her family coffers and vale's Chief guard getting her accepted into beacon on special circumstances. She wore her family cloak and her long traditional dress black dress with red trimmings around the edge of the dress. She walked up to the front desk, scroll in hand and typed up what she wanted to say, the scroll read I would like to book a room please as she flipped over the screen to show it to one of the people at the front desk. Why are we even stopping here, can't we just go to Beacon No we can't unfortunately, the airships aren't at the dock's yet so... lets just kill somebody and sleep in their corpse Kira that is disgusting but fun enough death, we sleep here tonight

The concierge looked at Chiyo with a warm smile.

"Good day, Madam," the concierge said as he looked at the booking. "You're just in luck. Three people checked out a few minutes ago so we have an opening. Room 215, single bedroom with king-size canopy bed, jacuzzi tub, a small receiving area and the regular facilities. Here are your keys."

He handed over a set of golden keys and a number etched in 215. He then looked at his watch.

"There's still an hour left of tea on the terrace, if you want to grab a bite while waiting for your luggage at your room," the concierge said. "And there are a lot of students there, if you want to get acquainted. I hope you enjoy your stay."

Chiyo took the keys and put them in her pocket before she spun her scroll round again and began to clear the screen before typing in some more words which were then translated. When she spun it around again so the concierge could see it, it had written on it I would love to, but could i have directions on where to go? she then began to think Is this really a good idea to go and have tea I think it will be fun, as long as we stay segregated the whole point is to be social though Fine be social but i'm warning you, this will end badly You always say that, its kind of lost its flare now so

The concierge nodded and pointed to the main staircase, a marble one lined with red carpet.

"Just head up those stairs and make a right turn at the next set. Once you reach the second floor, you'll find a corridor of rooms, one of which is 215. Pass your room and you'll see a glass door leading to the terrace itself. Today we are serving pastries, so I hope that will be to your liking. Have a nice day."

After having his butler escort him here Shiroe decided to keep his identity concealed to most people considering the hotel was open to all presently and there might be a few people who'd recognize him. He could try to blend in with the rest but his mannerisms usually give him away along with his choice of clothing. Sighing a bit as he walked towards the counter he didn't notice his butler, Dunham, still following him, carrying all his luggage.

Well, as I have yet to enter Beacon I might as well stay here for a while despite the current accomodations.

"Dunham, you may leave my luggage at the counter for the bellboys to pick up, afterwards you are dismissed for the time being." Shiroe said, as they were walking towards the counter. Being a bit crowded, Shiroe wanted to avoid talking to anybody at the moment as long as he had yet to settle in a room. He approached the end of the counter with Dunham behind him and hit the bell calling the attention of the concierge.

I hope he doesn't recognize who I am. It would be quite embarrassing if they kick someone out for me. Better yet I hope there are rooms available.

"Good day, sir," the concierge smiled. "Welcome to Hotel Histoire. Are you here for a room reservation? All our regular rooms are full, but today's the last day of Open Week, so if you're a student, you can avail a special room for half the price. We happen to have two openings left. Just show you're student ID or letter of application and we'll fit you in."

Chiyo gave a little bow to the concierge and began making her way toward the terrace, passing her room she stuck a hand inside her pocket and jangled the keys in anticipation of a nice warm bed for once. When she reached the glass door she opened it and shut it behind her before heading towards a empty table and sitting down at it not caring about the tea and pastry's but about the thought running through her mind. This place reminded her of the home she could never go back too. Are you ok?I'll be fine She looked over at the collection or servant like people and gave them a indicating wave for one of them to come over. She then began typing on her scroll what she wanted to say Maybe tea will take my mind off this subject Hopefully it will

Two waiters in fine vests waltzed over to where Chiyo was.

"Good day, Madam," they said in unison. "Welcome to the Tea Terrace."

"Today's specials are macaroons and danishes," one said.

"And our best-selling tea at the moment is the peppermint and the jasmine," the second said.

One of them proceeded to lay a napkin over Chiyo's lap and set the table while the other took out a pen and note.

"May I take your order?"

Quite reluctant to give his ID over to the concierge in fear of being recognized he just decided to go ahead with it and said with a little strain in his voice, "I don't mind at all." while handing over his ID, Dunham sensing the strain in his voice let down the bags and said, "Young Master, do you perhaps wish to find a different place to stay?"

"No Dunham, it's getting quite late and here is fine." Shiroe said, "Now go on now and I'll call you if I need help with anything."

"If that is your wish, Young Master" Dunham said before walking towards the door.

Clearing his throat he looked at the concierge again and said, "Now, if I may have the keys to my room."

The concierge looked at the letter and then flinched a bit. He looked nervous, but continued to smile.

"It is an honor having you here, young Sir Pendragon," the concierge said with a small bow. "We happen to have a ready suite room that I hope will be to your liking. It's room 219 on the second floor."

The concierge gingerly handed over the golden keys and continued to bow.

"Tea hour has started on the terrace on the second floor," the concierge said. "Would you like someone to escort you there? We have some fine pastries on line today."

Chiyo frantically began writing her reply on her scroll and then turned it to the waiter ready to take her order I'll have a danish and the peppermint and the jasmine tea please the text on her scroll read. All sophisticated again now are we My family did used to run part of our homeland Before they all died horribly I was wondering when you would pipe up again Chiyo felt like she was in a artificial home, with all the waiters tending to her, although it would never be home without Kiyoko there.

"As you wish, madam," the waiters bowed.

A nice hot danish with thick fruit filling was placed in front of her and the teas were poured. They gave a small bow.

"Enjoy your meal, madam," the waiters said in unison. "And just use the small bell to call out again."


A small distance away, Mirai was sitting down with Hiawatha.

"You still haven't said your name," Mirai smiled as more tea and pastries were served. "But I do believe I know why. Anyways, please enjoy for the moment. I'm going to stand by the balcony for a moment."

Mirai knew she made a good choice of picking another guest. She had seen him devilishly steal a letter of application as well as a wallet. A bandit always makes things more fun, she thought.
She continued to stare at the entrance as students walked in and out. She knew who she was looking for would never come, but she searched all the same. It was only then that she noticed a lone girl enjoying a danish and tea. She walked over.

"Hello," she greeted Chiyo. "It seems quite lonesome here, mind if I join you?"

"No thank you I could find my own way, and thank you for your accommodation." Shiroe said, somewhat accepting the invitation to the terrace. Turning to the bellboys who seemed to be quite quick in handling his luggage he said,"Please do take care of the luggage with utmost care. There are some quite volatile materials inside that may damage this beautiful hotel." With this he started heading for the terrace with a slight grin on his face.

At least they didn't make too much of a fuss about my arrival.

Chiyo swept part of her cloak so it draped down her back and down the side. She picked up the cup of tea and took drank some of the contents of the cup. It's like home... Hanikamiya was getting more emotional about this place being like home than Chiyo was. She was about to enjoy her first bite of the danish when she heard a girls voice speak out to her. She looked up to see a girl standing there she grabbed her scroll and began to type on it Hello, no i don't mind if you join, i could use the company. Might i ask of your name? She then indicated towards one of the free seat's and called over one of the waiters and typed on her scroll Would you be so kind as to help seat herNow your really going back to your roots, just don't get the pompous attitude again or lose your passion for killing I'm not changing, I'm just being nice to this girl

Mirai smiled at the girl's hospitality and was seated down. She held up her fan to her face and smiled.

"My name's Mirabella Cinq," Mirai said more warmly than she usually did. "But you may simply call me Mirai. If I'm correct, you've just checked into the hotel, right? I'd like to make the assumption your a student at Beacon Academy and I'd like to know more about my future schoolmates."

It was about the same time that Mirai turned her direction towards another newcomer, someone who looked strangely familiar. Those features... she thought. Could he be from the Pendragon family?

She turned back to Chiyo and smiled.

"You should try the macaroons, too," Mirai said. "I'll order them for you, my treat."

Enjoying the cool evening breeze Shiroe takes a deep breath as he arrives to the terrace. He looked around to look for an empty table but catches a glimpse of a petite girl with blonde hair looking at him for a second with a quizzical look on her face then continuing her conversation with another one wearing a cloak.

She must have recognized me somehow. Might as well introduce myself, she looks quite noble as well.

Finding a seat nearby he sits down and waits for a waiter before deciding to talk to the girl who seemed to still be in a conversation. Enjoying the ambiance Shiroe relaxes a bit while admiring the scenery, thinking over how this year will go and if he'll make any friends.

The royal one turned as though to answer his question, then quickly turned back to walking. "Puzzling. Is this some sort of test?" Hiawatha wondered as he faked a smile and returned to trying to keep up with the royal one. Shortly, they entered what appeared to be a cafe of some sort and headed to two tables with two people already busy at work. Servants? Guardians? Friends? Hiawatha maintained a neutral face as he approached the tables, hands behind his back. Hostile eyes greeted him as he approached in his dirty trench coat to what was clearly a upper class establishment. Too much attention, this might get bad.

"Another friend of yours?" the stiff one asked. Not Friends. Perhaps this is a public show of generosity. Hiawatha looked at the royal one, unsure of how to respond.

"Yes, he is," Mirai said. "I'm being very generous today, as you can see. Besides, I don't think it's fair I have an entire floor reserved while my future schoolmates are kicked out. I do believe you remember the girl in pajamas earlier, right?" So I'm not the first. This really is some sort of public display of wealth then. Curious why she would choose what must look to her a madman in a trench coat and a lost girl. Maybe contrast is the key here? Also, whats with the entire floor being booked? How important is this lady? More importantly, how much security can they afford to spend on a floor that would seem to them to only have one person staying?

"Have you no manners boy? Should you not at least introduce yourself?" The stiff one curtly asked, suddenly shifting her attention to Hiawatha. The busy one had already gone back to work after greeting what must be her master, Hiawatha noticed as he relaxed his arms to a more social position.

Before he could respond, the royal one waved away the stiff one's comment and sat down. Having been saved of having to respond, Hiawatha silently sat down, wondering how much information he was comfortable disclosing to these people. Picking up a danish to spare himself from more conversation, he looked at the royal one to check whether his behavior was odd enough to attract attention.

"You still haven't said your name," Mirai smiled as more tea and pastries were served. "But I do believe I know why. Anyways, please enjoy for the moment. I'm going to stand by the balcony for a moment." Know why? Is this a test after all? Perhaps I should let her know of my identity. I will be using my real name in Beacon, after all. If she is going, it would be counter-productive to use a fake name. Hiawatha quickly finished his danish as he got out of his original seat and proceeded to approach the royal one, now seated with another. A blond young lady in a dress. Was this the girl in pajamas? Probably a student, from the apparent age group. Hiawatha approached them and sat down. "Hello again. Sorry for not responding earlier, I was lets say... lost in thought. My name is Hiawatha Nightingale and Im here to join beacon. Why are you guys here?" Hiawatha opened, hoping he wasn't looking too out of place as he adjusted his tone to what he hoped was a more friendly voice.

Mirai was glad to see that her little guest had joined her and smiled as the macaroons were laid down.

"Hiawatha Nightingale..." Mirai said as she savored the name like a sweet. "Hm, I see. No it's no bother at all. Ma'am, I do hope it's alright if he joins us. The more the merrier, I say."

As she waited for Chiyo's replay, she turned back to Hiawatha.

"A fellow student at Beacon," Mirai smiled, thought it came out cold and dry. "That's absolutely wonderful. I'm glad we could get acquainted. Have you come far?"

Chiyo dismissed the waiter and turned her scroll around and began to type once more, this time when she turned it around it read First off let me introduce myself, I am Chiyo Yuki and you are correct, i have just checked in and i will be attending Beacon, Chiyo saw Mirai look away at somebody and she too looked at the person briefly before typing frantically on her scroll Would you like any tea. just after she had said that Mirai offered to order her some macaroons she began typing again You are most kind Mirai. Chiyo blinked and what seemed like too minutes went by that was weird Did we just... couldn't have Chiyo noticed the macaroons on the table and took one and ate it.

Mirai continued to smile and a bit warmer than usual.

"My assumptions were correct then," Mirai said. "Well, please do help yourself to the macaroons. I myself don't usually socialize, but I think it's high time I got to know people better. You've been typing on your scroll...do you have trouble speaking?"
