OOC: So it would seem I either can't read or was confused by the phrase "top team makes the thread." If you guys are willing to run with it, I am as well.

IC: The tip of a tall fir tree bent deeply under Chiu's weight. A mere two feet of open air separated Chiu from her target, a thick bough halfway down another large fir. Stepping lightly from one perch to the next she felt the gust of wind pulling at her clothes as the first tree rocked back to it's original position. Albeit, now heavily bowed.

Back flipping from the tree, Chiu drew and transformed her blades before landing softly in a small clearing. Guns up she rotated slowly, scanning for threats. Satisfied she was alone, Chiu re-sheathed Lunar Lotus and drew the device that would lead her towards her opponents.

A voice in the back of her mind whispered that the boy who was meant to be her partner was also out here. Another, louder voice, argued that she didn't need a partner. A brief, but heated battle raged in her mind as Chiu debated with herself over what she thought, no, what she knew she should do and what she was supposed to do.

In the end it was an easy decision. Without a way to locate her partner her only choice was to head in the indicated direction. And if she should happen to defeat their opponents before he arrived that was his problem.

Pocketing the device, Chiu adjusted the fit of her greaves and tighted the laces of her boots before moving towards her goal. Gripping the hilts of Lunar Lotus Chiu whispered softly.

"Watch me Ce."

Alex launched off the pad and latched onto the tallest tree he could grab. "Better get on ground fast." He thought, as he jumped down from branch to branch to solid ground.

Looking at the navigator, he was quite close to the battle site, and decided to get some preparations out of the way before combat starts.

As he got closer to the battle site, he carefully marked every tree that he deemed useful with a small triangle. Getting closer to the designated area, Alex quickly scouted around and made sure it was safe to continue. He hadn't heard any sounds in the immediate area, so he went to work sticking special explosive throwing knives onto the trees surrounding the area. He made sure that they were in the tree's shadow, so the sun wouldn't give off their positions.

Satisfied with his work, he quickly darted off, back into the cover of the trees.

OOC: Is my setting up allowed?

The back of Chiu's head tickled for the fraction of a second before it was repressed and ignored. A few moments later the machine gun crack of dozens of tree branches caught her attention. Dropping down into a crouch, Chiu watched as two forms fell to the earth half a mile off. First an orange streak that smashed through even the thickest branches as if they were toothpicks, followed soon after by a larger slower shape. Likely the formers user.

Quickly scaling a nearby tree, Chiu began swinging, jumping, and running from branch to branch towards the impact site. It wasn't exactly in the direction dictated by the device, but she did not believe just any student would land nearby and first shape did not seem like her partners type of weapon.

Within a few moments she had reached the edge of the site. Some dozen yards away and 15 feet beneath her a orange haired girl clad in brown stood in the newly made clearing shouting her head off. Who knew what would hear her and come investigate. Although it did make things a bit easier for Chiu.

Leaping from her perch she sprinted across the downed branches towards her target's left side. When she was 6 or 7 feet away Chiu drew Lunar Lotus and aimed two cuts towards the girl's legs.

Alex peers over the trees, trying to find the source of the large cracking sound. East of his position, he sees a large cloud of dust and immediately rushes over, keeping to the shadows, so as not to be seen.

As he arrived, he spots two figures: one in a tree clad in blue, his partner, and the other in brown. The one in brown looks very distraught, and suddenly calls out "Maaaarc?!" obviously to her partner.

In one swift motion, the blue-clad figure jumps down and attempts to land a strike on the brown figure.

OOC: Just to be clear, Alex hasn't attacked yet. When I said:

I meant that Alex was witnessing Chiu attack Alani.

IC: Alex felt a presence rushing towards Alani, growing ever stronger. Suddenly, he sees a silver blur dash in front of Alani. "This is bad," he thought, "If Chiu gets into a fight with both of them at once, she'll be out before I can even show myself."

He starts circling around the clearing, behind the trees, launching three throwing knives each at his two opponent's backs. He doesn't stop moving, but instead of circling now, he starts to jump into the treetops to try and avoid detection and get a better view of his partner.

Chiu wasn't sure what suprised her more; orange hair's last second dodge, or the timely arrival of orange hair spear wielding partner.

The spear-man, black clad with silver armor, wasn't overly tall; she probably had a couple inches and about 30lbs on him; but his spear was nearly twice his size which put her at a distinct disadvantage when it came to reach.

As she could see it there were two options. The first was to fall back into the trees where the spear's size would make it impossible to use, but if her landing was anything to go by orange hair may be able to fix that for him. Or, on the other hand, she could close and try to get inside his guard. And with orange hair close by he may be hesitant to strike for fear of hitting his partner.

Opting for the first she transformed the right hand blade and dashed back into the forest. Blindly firing over her shoulder to cover her escape.

Anticipating large-scale tree destruction, Alex had already left the tree he jumped into, and leaped into the next closest one, following his navigator back to the battle area.

However, he quickly realized that he made a huge mistake. By jumping from tree to tree, he left a trail of fresh, green leaves behind. He saw his slip, but realized that it was too late to correct it, since he would be in his opponent's sight, albiet as a shadow.

Alex moved quickly so he had some time to find Chiu before Marc and Alani could catch up.

Once Alex got back to the battle area, he decided that something needed to happen. He quickly took a scrap of paper and scribbled something on it, folded it, and proceeded to stick it to another tree with another explosive throwing knife ((keep in mind that the throwing knives look like normal ones, but they have a special explosive dust on them)). He made sure that the knife and note were in full view, and could be seen by his enemies.

Then, he set off to look for his partner.

OOC: I feel like I'm posting too much... you guys don't have to be afraid of posting, you know.

As loath as she was to admit it Chiu had screwed up. She had capitalized on the element of surprise to ambush a lone enemy. Even after orange hair's partner arrived she could have pressed the advantage and keep them on the defensive. Instead she had chosen poorly and retreated into the woods.

Now, as she ran through the woods, not only did the enemy not know where she was; she had no idea where they, or her partner, were. Where once she had several options on how to proceed, she now was limited to a single path. Head to the battle site and link up with her partner. Hopefully before running into the enemy again.

Alex dashed from tree to tree, around the combat zone, desperately trying to contact his partner. He saw a blue bur heading towards him, into the battle area.

"The only blue that would be in this part of the forest would be Chiu," he thought, "but, I should be prepared, just in case." He pulled out War and switched it into bow form, with an arrow at the ready.

He looked around the area one last time to make sure his enemies were totally clear and then, from a branch, whispered to the blur "Up here."

OOC:There are new rules regarding posting. We should probably follow those...? Which means that we need to stay on top of the whole "getting on and posting" thing.

The whispered voice caught Chiu's attention. Soft and smooth, like silk on satin, she had almost missed it. Glancing up she spotted her partner hiding amongst the branches partway up a tree. Scaling the tree, she climbed up two another branch nearby.

A part of her wanted to apologize. To take the blame for her mistakes, but a larger part knew she couldn't. She couldn't appear weak. Not here. Not now. Instead all she said was "Any sign of them?"

Alex looked around. He saw some movement in the bushes off in the distance, but couldn't be sure if it was his opponents or the wind. "I can't tell," he whispered, "but we better get moving. I set up some explosive traps near the battle area. We should get moving so we can ambush them again."

With that, he leaped from tree to tree once again, until he found a tree near the combat zone that gave full view of the area.

Chiu wasn't impressed. At least if anyone asked she wasn't. She did, however, have to admit a burgeoning sense if respect for her partner. So much so that she almost felt guilty about not knowing his name. Not that she actually felt guilty, she couldn't stress that point enough, but almost.

His forward thinking not only had their enemies walking into a trap, but would also provide her with their exact location should they stumble into it.

As her partner went high, Chiu decided to go low. Best to provide two separate attack angles should they stumble across their foe.

Jumping from her perch Chiu crouched low and moved as quietly as she could through various bushes and brambles. Stealth wasn't exactly her forte, but she was an experienced huntress in training and had stalked Grimm in the past. Hunting humans shouldn't be much harder from Grimm. One was a group of stupid mindless beasts, and the other had claws.

Smirking to herself at her little joke Chiu spotted a small depression in the ground surrounded by rocks and fallen trees near her partners position. Unless the enemy also came at them from the trees she would be well concealed from view. And if they did attack from above her partner should have the where with all to provide her with some warning.
