The Great Huntress Inn [Pirate-Hunter's Plot][Open]

"Don't worry, you don't have to be sca- Wait, what?" Yuuka said, not realizing that the girl had actually nodded for several moments, "Umm... If you breathe in too much air, you'll be terminated! We can't have people wasting all the air, yep! And you'll probably die in the first mission, the pirates are really dangerous and we'll just be throwing all the recruits at them. Literally, you'll be launched out of a cannon since the navy can't afford ammunitions apparently." She said, sounding a bit desperate as she continued trying to scare the girl.

IC:

"Mmm. Right, since you've been ignoring the question, I'll be a little bit more direct. No pressure. Lets go on a Date!" Riley smiled.

Realizing her plan had backfired, Yuuka's face took on a look of surprise, "Oh, nononononononononononononono! I'm sorry, that's not what I meant! I was just bored and you looked fun to tease, so I was trying to get you scared! We won't really terminate you for all that, unless you commit treason. Then we'll terminat- Sorry! Umm!" She said, flustered.

"I'm sure you can fight just fine, can I get your full name please? And your motivation for wanting to join?"

~~Riley~~
"...Just leave. I don't know why you came here, whether you want to atone for your sins and change your ways, or if you merely thought you could sneak in, but there is absolutely no chance of you getting what you want." Yuuka said, meaning more than just getting in the pirate hunter's.

~~Yew~~
"You want to join because...?" Yuuka said, pausing her search of the girl's name on her tablet. The girl really did seem to be shy, and a little young to be joining up. Maybe encouraging her to join wasn't a good idea. Maybe she should be more stern, the girl looked to be hardly old enough to even be out of school. In fact she WAS probably still in school. Almost certainly.

IC:

"No. I'm staying. You don't have the right to deny this out of personal feelings."

"Uh. I don't know, the good kind?" Jack says slowly, confused. "You mind backing up a little? You're making me nervous." she says, taking a slight step back.

~~Riley~~
"Personal feelings? No, you leaving has nothing to do with you hitting on me, I've been through a lot worse, believe me. You leaving has to do with the fact that the only thing keeping you from having a bounty on your head is a few lines in a list of laws about how much evidence is needed for one to be a criminal. I don't want to fight, so just leave. Please." Yuuka said, shaking her head in disappointment.

"That's... quite a story. You're a very dedicated and loyal young woman, I'm sure you'd be a great addition to the crew. But you do realize if you join up with us you wont be able to spend much time in Vale or around the academy, right? You might only get to see this Shard boy for... maybe a few months a year? Depending on how busy the pirates are this year." Yuuka said, touched by the girls story. That Shard boy was one lucky boy to have a girl that believed in him this much trying to help him.

~~Jack~~
Yuuka sighed, slowly walking back to her seat, "Sorrrrrry. I'm just bored. And tired. And a little drunk. Well, let's get this over then I guess. So you said you're here to join my liiiittle task force? Weeellll you've cooommmee to the right place!" She said, slurring her words a little. She looked down at her glass, trying to remember how many drinks she had had.

"Fiiirst, I need to make sure you knoow what you're getting yourself iiinto. You'll have to make a biiiig commitment of tiiime to join, as we'll probably be in the skyyy for long periods at a tiiime, and even when you get some shhhhore leave, you'll have to be ready to get back on the shhhhip and into the skkky at a moments notice. The job is alsho very dangerous - the pirates wont heshitate to kill you to save themshelves..." Yuuka looked down at her glass again, blinking, "I may have drank a bit too much..." She said quietly, but still loud enough for the woman on the opposite side of the table to hear.

Jack raised an eyebrow at the display. She slowly walked over the the table saying "Yeah, yeah, job, commitment, danger, sure thing."
Upon reaching the end of the table, she reached over and placed her fingers on the glass in front of the young girl. She dragged the glass back across the table towards herself and held it up, looking at the remaining alcohol.
"As for drinking too much..." She gripped the glass, tilted her head back and threw the contents down her throat. She slammed the glass back down onto the table, grinning widely. "I don't even think that's possible!"

IC:

"We're not fighting. That's a bs reason to deny my application - 'don't want to fight'. You think I don't know that when I sign up for this place?"

~~Yew~~
"Well, fair enough. I will need some sort of proof that you can fight well though - It looks bad for me if my new recruits just get themselves killed on the first mission, and unfortunately you don't seem to have attended a combat school, which is what I usually use to determine your fighting prowess." Yuuka said, trying to think of an alternative.

~~Jack~~
((OOC: Fun fact: Yuuka is older than Jack ))
"Unfortunately, it is possible when I'm meant to be working, technically... But I didn't expect many others today." Yuuka said, a small smile on her face.

She cleared her throat, focusing her mind to get her next words out with slurring, "Right, if you understand the dangers I'll continue. I'll need to get your full name - don't try faking it either, and also your motivation for wanting to join this crew here in as much detail as possible. This is the most important part of the whole interview, so put some thought into it!"

~~Riley~~
"...I'm sorry but I have no idea what you're going on about now. But you are a KNOWN pirate, and if you don't leave on your own accord I'll be forced to call in security to escort you out of here. Forcibly, if need be. Your application is denied automatically on grounds of being a criminal, not because of my personal opinion." Yuuka said, sighing. Such a long day...

Jack picked up the glass and tossed it to the side.
"Well, they call me Jacqueline Shackleton, but you can call me Jack or Jackie, I don't mind either way."
She pulled out the chair next to her and sat in it sideways, legs apart and arm draped over the back.
"And I'm here because I want glory, honor and I want to make the high seas a better place. The pay is nice too." She said with a wink.

About 35 minutes have passed already. Jett twitched as he visited the bar again for another drink of Mako Sake. It was taking a while for Riley's interview. He took out his ID when the bartend asked for it- His fake ID that is. Even though cameras never caught his face clearly, nor the police with his fingerprints, whenever he was out in public, he went under the name of Ian Moone, a similar-looking 18 year old graduate of Light Hall who wielded dual swords and was now looking for a job.

Of course, Jett didn't graduate from Light Hall, nor did he lose his arm to an Ursa. He wasn't even 18. Instead, Jett was a 17 year old dropout who left school at the age of 16 to pursue a life of crime. Meanwhile, Jett's arm was shotgunned off by his own friends during a fight against some Hunter trying to avenge his grandfather's death. The identity of Ian Moone was stolen from one of Jett's former classmates, someone who looked a lot like him, who lost an arm to an Ursa Minor attack in middle school. Fortunately (or unfortunately), it was the same side that Jett lost his.

He took a swig of his drink, thanking Ian for being above the drinking age. It had a very low amount of alcohol, but it was enough to stop him from jittering. All Jett needed was a BAC of .01% or a hit to stop, but he wouldn't dare use his slomogui out in public.

Hurry up...

IC:

"You're the one who said there wasn't any evidence!" Riley slumped even more into his seat, if that were possible.

He sighed. "Look. If you truly are saying no not because of personal opinion, then you should already figure that I actually might have firsthand experience. I could be more useful to you that anyone who's signed up."

Yuuka sighed, knowing that she should turn down the girl - without any way of proving her skills, she might turn out to be simply overconfident and get herself killed straight away, and Yuuka certainly did not want to that happen. But... She could tell that even if she turned the girl down, she would likely go find something just as reckless to do. And her story was touching as well...

"Okay... How about this then. I'll let you join, but on probation. You can be my assistant for the first mission, and if you prove yourself capable of looking after yourself there, then you can join the other warriors being recruited in the fighting." Yuuka said, having thought of an idea that would allow the girl to stay safe until she was sure that the girl actually had some fighting skill.

Looking through the woman's profile on her Scroll, Yuuka spent a minute or so simply thinking. Finally, she looked back up and spoke, "...You appear to have a bounty on your head... and although judging by your scores and what you have a bounty for you're extremely talented, I just don't think I can allow someone with a bounty to represent Vale..."

~~Riley~~
"I said not enough hard evidence for you to be arrested legally and without a trial, but that doesn't mean that it isn't confirmed that you aren't a pirate. Apparently the only pieces of 'hard' evidence they still need to arrest you is- Wait, no, I can't tell you this. Get out, last warning." Yuuka said, once again coming a tiny bit flustered as she realized she almost gave away Government secrets.

IC:

"Hey, you nearly gave something away! Must be you're really coming on to me." Riley chuckled. "Well, I dunno. There're still some things I might find interesting to do, and you still haven't actually responded with a yes-no to the contact details thing. You could regret it!"

Jack grew stiff. Crap. She saw through my clever ruse. It might be time for a new alias.
She cleared her throat and sat straight, "What, all that malarkey with the boat and the building? That wasn't really a crime per se, but more of a horrible misunderstanding. Really, it's no one's fault, and besides, I'm here, aren't I? Think of this as me on my path to redemption! Also, I work great in groups, and I have an amicable personality."

~~Riley~~
Yuuka sighed in disappointment, really not wanting to what she was about to do, yet knowing the necessity only made it worse. The man simply wouldn't give up, and simply wouldn't leave. She pressed a few buttons on her Scroll and sat back.

"I'd suggest you leave if you want to keep your dignity. Security will be here in about ten seconds, and if you're not gone by then they'll have to force you to leave." She said calmly.

~~Jack~~
'Well... It's not like you have a history of criminal activities, and given your age at the time of the crime I highly doubt you did it with malicious intention... Not only that, but you're right. If you didn't want to atone then you wouldn't be here, risking getting caught." Yuuka said, more to herself than to the woman in front of her.

'Well... I have admitted people with a lot crazier histories... And she really does seem to want to atone. And get paid. Hopefully she was more interested in atoning.' Yuuka thought, thinking over the decision.

"Alright... I think you deserve a chance to atone. And hopefully this isn't the alcohol speaking." She said with a small smile, handing over a contract with a pen to sign it, "Read over the contract and sign at the bottom and you're in!"

~~Yew~~
"Yup, you can come, as long as you promise to stay close to me and not run off into a fight without any care for your safety. I wont make you sign a contract, but I'm just going to trust in your judgement. And if you go running off without me you wont be allowed to join the crew." Yuuka said, smiling at the girls excitement.

"Come back here in a week's time, 8pm, this room. We'll be discussing the details of the task force in more detail!"

IC:

"Dignity? Perfect." A near-maniacal grin smeared itself on Riley's face.

10 seconds. Now it was just a matter of timing. What he wanted to say took about 5 seconds; and he needed others to hear it. Was it nice? No, not really. Still, he just wanted to see what might happen then.

~~Yew~~
Yuuka had been in the middle of cleaning up and preparing to leave for the day when Yew ran back in, embarrassed for some reason.

"You wouldn't happen to know of any cheap hotels, would you? I don't have a place to stay or much money..." The girl asked, revealing the reason for her embarrassment.

"Oh that's convenient, I actually know a new place that opened up that I was planning on checking out today. If you wait a few minutes, we can go together. I'm pretty poor as well, but I heard the rent there isn't too bad. It's an apartment though, but if you're going to be joining up with us you'll need a place to stay when we aren't on duty. Maybe something can be worked out with the owner..." Yuuka said, smiling as she packed away a few more things.

Five seconds later, two burly men wearing uniforms of the Vale Navy stepped into the room, and seeing Riley they approached him, one on each side.

"Please... 'Escort' him out of the premise... Only use force if he resists." Yuuka said, before going back to reading on her Scroll.

One of the men looked down at Riley and signalled for him to stand up, "Do we need to do this the easy way or the hard way?" He asked.
