First Team VRTX practice day.

Brady arrived in the arena a half hour earlier than they'd agreed. well, a half hour by anyone else's watch. He'd forgotten if he'd set his own watch two hours fast, or just an hour and a half...
For once he was the first one there. He decided to kill time until the team arrived by setting up five separate target dummies, setting himself up in the seats on the opposite end of the stadium, and firing single shots into each in turn.

Cebrail certainly had a strange night. Perhaps strange was the wrong word. Either way, he certainly had a night. After talking with his new teammates for a bit, he had decided to shower and hit the hay. Despite what appeared to be a good start to their four year tenure together, he still had trouble sleeping that night.

Even with the reassuring comments from his new friends, he still felt utterly guilty and terrible about Roy. He was hoping that their training would help clear his head. Walking into the arena, Cebrail yawned as gunfire echoed through the building. With a loud crunch each round crashed into what he hoped were dummies. It was difficult to tell, he still felt a bit tired and not as rested as he should be.

As Rachael approached the arena, she began hearing faint gunshots every now and again. It must have been Brady, and upon entering her suspicions were confirmed. She watched for a second as Brady fired upon the dummies before she stepped away and began checking her weapons to make sure they were loaded and properly functioning. She held the trigger on her sword down, causing it the blade to turn red with heat. She had loaded fire dust into that and her gauntlet.

Looking around, she noted that the area was pretty much empty, so there wasn't anything that would get in the way. She took that into consideration, as well as the fact that she knew what Brady and Fei used during fights. She'd have to deal with a ranged opponent or a melee one. Or both. She still didn't know what Cebrail used though, and she could only look at him for a second before turning away and checking her supplies.

Brady had been daydreaming for a little while now, so it took him a moment to notice that his entire team had arrived in the time he'd been absorbed in target practice. His eyebrows raised slightly in surprise as he rested the butt of the gun on the seat in front of him and leaned against it. He raised his hand in greeting as he got up and made his way to the edge of the stands. He dropped off the edge, catching himself on an almost imperceptible crack in the wall to break his fall.

"Hey all, How's everyone? So I've been poking around this arena a little bit, and i figure we've got some options. we could just do some good ol' fashion sparing, and i'm pretty sure this place has some kinda obstacle course set up somewhere over there" He said pointing a thumb over his shoulder

A faint throat clearing came from nearby. Looking over, he could see Fei standing. It seemed everyone had arrived. "I'm up for some sparring first if anyone else is interested." He rested his hands on top of his head. It was nice to have his armor on once again.

Stretching out, he forced out his blades from the gauntlets and retracted them quickly. He was hoping to impress them a little bit. "As you can see... the gauntlets contain blades that can extend and retract." He smirked for a second before continuing. "They can also do something else but I'd rather keep that a surprise."

As Brady dropped down from above them, Rachael came over to where the others were and listened to them briefly. She looked over at Cebrail when he explained what his weapons were, and sighed.

"Let's spar first, if we want we could do the obstacle course later." She said as she stretched her limbs. Her tail swayed from left to right as she waited for the final verdict, her sword leaning over her shoulder.

"Alright. Well, Let's pair up Ceb. I should probably have a good idea of what you can do. Girls, you two are more than welcome to watch, or pair off yourselves."
Brady grinned slightly as he hefted his gun, leaning it on his shoulder.

Cebrail felt that it was interesting to fight Brady first. He was, after all, primarily an up close duelist. Stepping onto the center stage, his blades out and ready to fight. He had more training fighting up close and personal. From what he could tell, Brady carried a heavy rifle. He hoped he could use his own speed and maneuverability to his own advantage. Closing the gap would be his best bet.

"Alright then. Let's get started shall we?" He smiled. If their fighting styles could compliment one another as well as they seemed to get along, they could go far at Beacon.

Brady moved to his side of the stage and nodded once, still grinning lazily.
'alright, what do I need to know about him? stopping power, speed, form, mobility.. mobility... yeah, alright, let's start with mobility and work our way out from there' He thought as he swung his rifle down to his hands.
"Start"

He immediately activated his Semblance as he fired a single round towards the center Cebrail's chest.

'alright. watch him move. where does he put his weight? hmm... a blade on each arm means he doesn't need to worry which way he moves, he'll always have a weapon oh his attacking side. I wonder if he's right handed? probably.'

Cebrail was caught off guard by the sheer speed Brady moved. It was something he hadn't been expecting in the slightest. Quickly rolling to his right, he retracted his blades to keep from cutting himself. Rolling onto his feet, he dashed towards the rifleman, weaving back and forth.

Getting closer and closer, Cebrail launched and pulled back the tips of his blades at Brady, hoping to keep him distracted and under pressure. Finally close enough, he leapt into the air with his blades ready to strike on a downward slice.

Brady kept up his rate of fire to ensure Cebrail had to keep moving. Frankly, Brady was impressed. the way Ceb moved was far more efficient than he was used to seeing at signal. very little wasted momentum, his weight was shifted smoothly. all in all, He seemed to have a very solid framework to work with. Time to throw in some variables.

Brady saw the double leg bend which almost always heralded a jumping attack of some sort. He knew at this range he didn't have all that many options, so he dropped his right leg and let himself fall sideways. as his shoulder hit the ground and he began to roll to safety, his rifle had just finished it's shift to it's shotgun form, and his thumb had just finished moving the selector to the burn dust.
'let's see some improvisation Ceb' He thought as he pulled the trigger, lighting the space he'd just left on fire.

It really shouldn't have surprised him by now, but it still did. Brady seemed to react and roll away much quicker than he had anticipated. With a smooth motion, the sloth rolled, turned his rifle into a shotgun and fired it into the ground.

A strange action, he thought, until the ground had become aflame. He was falling now, dropping to where Brady would've been but only a fire remained. Thinking quickly, he launched his blade tips to his left and away from Brady. A shotgun was dangerous up close. Using the pulley system, the tips locked into the ground and pulled him mid air.

Landing on the ground, Cebrail turned with his blades back to their base form. It was proving more difficult to merely get close. The shotgun was a bit of a surprise. He wasn't quite sure how to handle it really.

Encircling Brady, Cebrail ran around his sparring partner. Trying to keep far enough away from the shotgun and trying to move too fast for the rifle, he launched a blade tip behind Brady. Pulling and sliding toward him now, he moved faster than before, his right blade ready to strike.

'so that's the surprise' Brady mused when he saw the cable system in action. 'that could be useful'

He was a bit confused when Cebrail launched a blade towards him. He could plainly see that his aim was off, and wouldn't even need to dodge. when Cebrail began speeding towards him however, It all made sense. Brady could tell that at this speed he had no hope of dodging, so he did the only thing he could do.
With another flick of his thumb, his firearm was now loaded with Freeze dust. The barrel aimed not at the advancing Cebrail, but rather at the tow cable he was using, Brady pulled the trigger, forming a considerable block of ice between the two.

It was at this point that Brady's pupil's relaxed and he had to blink several times, to clear his fuzzy vision. he'd used his semblance for just a touch too long, and needed a moment to recover.

His cable was no longer pulling him forward, the dust having frozen it mid pull. Though he was no longer gaining speed, he still had his momentum propelling him forward. Sliding forward, he nearly tackled Brady until suddenly his left arm jolted back, the ice block refusing to budge. Now laying in front of the faunus, Cebrail couldn't help but laugh.

"Do you mind taking care of the ice block? It makes things a bit difficult." He smirked.

"Sure thing man." Brady said as he changed the selector to burn dust and began melting the chunk of ice.
"You're good Ceb. I'm used to the fast mover's back at signal being all jerky and predictable, but you move pretty damn smoothly. and those cables are a handy little trick."

With the ice block melted away, Cebrail retracted the tip."Thanks, I work well in open spaces. How did you move so fast?" Brady was almost completely different now than he was during the fight. Dusting himself off, he began to stretch.

"Who's up next?"

"I'm not all that fast. I just react quickly. My semblance let's me take a lot in at once, and react in the instant you move." Brady said as he slung his rifle over his back. "Anyway, the stage is free girls. you're up. challenge whoever you want.

Rachael had watched their battle closely, taking in strengths and weaknesses and noting weapon capabilities. They seemed to have a wide variety of weapons among them that could work well together. She made sure to keep that in mind. As the guys finished fighting, Rachael took into consideration the fact that her semblance wouldn't work on Fei, because her aura was locked. She would have to rely on predicting movements and overwhelming her if at all possible.

"I guess I'll let you have the first move then." Rachael said as she walked to a spot that was at least several yards in front of Fei. "I'm ready whenever you are." she said as she clutched her sword in her non-gauntlet hand. She didn't adopt any fighting stance as she stood ready, she just waited for Fei to make her move.

The moment Fei jumped, Rachael took a step back and leaned back so the kick barely missed her nose. She took this opportunity to use the leverage of her leaning to do a back handspring to reduce the distance between them. Reaching into one of the pouches on the back of her belt with her gauntlet, she pulled out a single knife and threw it at Fei, not aimed directly at her. The moment the knife left her hand Rachael ran just behind it and upon coming in range to Fei, brought her sword down upon her in an arcing overhead swing.

The moment Rachael's sword came in contact with Fei's spear, she reached into one of her back pockets once more and removed a grenade. She quickly held it up to her mouth and used her teeth to pull the pin, but before she could do anything else she received a kick to the stomach. The grenade left her hand and fell to the floor as Rachael stumbled backwards. With a large leap backwards, Rachael put her finger on the trigger of her blade and aimed it at Fei. She didn't take more than a second to aim before she pulled the trigger at least five times, letting loose five bullets of flame towards her just as the grenade she dropped earlier exploded.
