Tea, Ice Cream and Water (Closed)

Rachael looked around at the others sitting around the cafe, seeing most of them conversing comfortably with each other. It was strange how despite the fact they were a couple now, she and Fei still didn't seem to be able to talk so comfortably with each other. Maybe because it was a sort of spur of the moment thing, them getting to together. It was something like that, but Rachael didn't have any regrets and she was sure that Fei didn't either.

"Hmm, not sure. What kinds of tea do they have here anyways?" she said as she opened the menu and began browsing through.

As Rachael handed the waiter her menu, she thought of strange it must look for her to be sitting with Fei. Fei seemed generally nice and sweet, whereas Rachael already had a bad reputation that had already been spread nearly school-wide. It just seemed like the unlikeliest thing. She was too busy thinking about this to notice Fei shrugging her shoulders as if an apology, not that she minded that she ordered for them in the first place. Rachael was a fan of sweet things anyways, and pretty much anything chocolate she would absolutely love.

Looking over at the other couples, she wondered how their relationship came to be. They must have had more time to get to know eachother, whereas Fei and Rachael sort of just spontaneously happened. Her thoughts kept focusing on this as she stared off into space.

"Hmm? Oh, I'm fine. Just thinking about some... unimportant things." she said, hoping Fei wouldn't notice her short pause. She wouldn't be surprised if she did though, but the hope that she ignored it was still there. It wasn't that she wanted to lie, but it was something she needed to think about and she didn't want to worry Fei. Their relationship was fine, but Rachael wasn't one to get involved with something and then not think about it for a long while. More often than not she overthinked about such things, which she thought was a bad habit.

"So how precisely did this happen? It was a bit of a blur, no? Not that I'm unsure of whether or not we should be like this or anything, but it was so sudden. Don't most others take time to get this close to eachother?" she asked, not meaning to sound unsure or unfaithful.

With a sigh, Rachael closed her eyes once the man bowed and left and said: "I suppose." Taking a sip of her tea, she looked at Fei in the eyes for a moment before closing her eyes once more. "So. Where do we start then?" she asked as she set the cup back down on the table. There were some things Rachael didn't want to talk about so she'd gloss over most of the parts that were unpleasant. She didn't want to lie, but she would if she had to. Those memories were best left unmentioned.

Rachael froze for a moment upon hearing Fei's question. That was a complicated question with an even more complicated answer, so Rachael was forced to quickly decide what she would and wouldn't say. Her brain quickly decided that it would be a good idea to pick up her tea cup and take another sip as her mind worked quickly and thoroughly.

"I haven't told you about my semblance have I?" she said as she opened her eyes halfway. Rather than their usual yellow, they were now colored red, her pupils now slits. "Can you not see it around you? The people pointing and whispering to themselves?" With a motion to her left, she gave a side glance at a couple sitting at the table just next to them. One of them was looking back at Rachael as he whispered behind his hand to his girlfriend. Shortly afterwards, she gave a quiet gasp as she looked back over the faunus sitting across from Fei.

"They mock us faunus and make our lives miserable, and for what reason? Entertainment? Selfishness? Greed? They're all stupid reasons, just as stupid as the people hurting us. And it doesn't just stop at the faunus. Humans hurt eachother for their own personal gain daily, some even kill so they can take what isn't theirs. There are so many people that would hurt another person just to get what they want, not caring about that other person. Such insensitivity disgusts me more than anything else.

"And it doesn't stop there. What about animals? What about nature? Just by being alive, people cut down trees, kill animals, and flatten the earth just so they can provide for those who are born every day. It's ruining everything. They ruin everything. Even still, I have many more reasons why I should hate others, but I would rather not reflect on those memories."

With that, Rachael paused momentarily, taking another sip of tea and letting Fei process all that she just heard. After a moment or two, she continued.

"But what does this have to do with my semblance you ask? Because, I can feel all of that. Your aura reflects everything you feel and think, and I can see, feel, and hear all of it. I was exposed to all that bitter truth for several years and it has taken a great toll on my psyche. I see their aura, feel it, hear it, and everything. I can feel their spite, and their bitterness, Fei. I can see your their twist in confusion, and hear the sounds of dismay. All of if is being taken in by my mind and soul. Everyone feels differently, and I know it all."

She paused again, taking another sip of her tea. "And these red eyes? Merely a side effect." And with that, she finished her explanation as her eyes faded back to their normal yellow state.

Rachael smiled at the compliment, though she was expecting more of a reaction. Maybe it was because they were around other people and she didn't want them to hear anymore. Even still, most people were out of earshot, and the rest were probably not listening. "Thanks." she said as she finished off the last of her tea. "And how about you?" she asked as she looked back into Fei's eyes. "What about you are you willing to tell me now, hm?"

Lifting the cup to her mouth, she tilted her head again and took a sip of the still hot liquid whilst she pondered on what to say. Which wasn't much .. there wasn't a lot of personal history she could recall or remember, she had just woken up in the city of Vale, barely two miles from Beacon Academy itself. Nevertheless, she didn't want to share nothing or say she didn't have anything after what Rachael went through for the last few minutes. Still .. she didn't remember anything and every time she tried to actively bring it up or search for the memory, she would just get sudden and painful headaches.

"Well, I .. don't know," She looked up at Rachael, smiling a little. "It's not that I don't want to tell you or that I'm hiding anything from you .. I just can't note or quote anything that might warrant a personal confession." Fei would say, tilting her head off to the side. "I .. don't have much to say."

Though Fei was afraid she'd disappointed Rachael, she herself was also very disappointed for being unable to recall even the face of a childhood enemy or something similar to that.

"Oh? Do you have amnesia?" Rachael would ask with a curious look on her face. She believed Fei couldn't recall anything, especially after what the bitter faunus just said out loud. Had something happened that suppressed her memories, or could she just not remember? Either way, she wouldn't know for sure since even Fei herself didn't remember. "There must be more to it than that, though..." Rachael muttered to herself as she began thinking about the possibilities. It probably wasn't her business to invade on her companions past like that. Not that there was much to reminisce on at this point.

"I see..." Rachael said with a little bit of disappointment. "Well, no need to worry about that right now. Is that it though?" Rachael asked. She didn't mean to press on, but surely there was something that she could tell her, right? Anything would be fine at this point. Rachael had already told a fair amount, and she would like something back. Then again Fei couldn't quite remember anything. "Eh, it doesn't matter if there isn't anything you can tell me. I just wanted to know, is all." she said, trying to state that it was okay with Rachael if she couldn't remember anything, it's just that something is better than nothing.

"I suppose." Rachael said, as she leaned her head against her hand, using the table to support her elbow. She didn't mean to sound ungrateful or rude, but it was just odd that Fei couldn't remember anything. Did she not want to talk about it, or was she being serious? Rachael wasn't sure if she was being paranoid or not, as this was totally strange. It was best she didn't press anymore than she already have, so she decided to change the subject, albeit abruptly. "So what are some things you like? Any hobbies, or... something?" she asked with a small smile.

"I don't have any hobbies really. Unless you count mind games and sleeping as hobbies then, no, I don't really like doing much." she said just before the waiter returned to them with their sundae. After he set it down on the table, she nodded towards him as if to thank him. She watched as Fei moved over to sit next to her, and as she pulled the sundae over to them. Upon being offered the first bite of the sundae, she smiled. "If you say so." she said as she grabbed one of the spoons and scooped up some of the ice cream, along with a bit of the chocolate chips and shavings. She took a moment to look at it before she put the end of the spoon in her mouth, tasting the ice cream, as well as the chocolate. It took a moment before she swallowed it, her body shivering with delight. "This is great! Try some Fei!" she said as she looked over at her companion with a wide smile.

Rachael took a spoonful for herself, shoving it in he mouth and letting the sweet cream melt in her mouth, eliciting another shiver from the sheer sweetness. "You haven't had ice cream before!? You were missing out so much." she said with a surprised look on her face. Well now she found out what she was missing out on, and she loved it.

"This is great. I love sweet things, especially chocolate things. I think I'm kind of addicted to them actually." she said, happily as she shoved another spoonful of ice cream in her mouth. She was almost in pure bliss from the ice cream, and the fact she was with Fei. She couldn't remember the last time she was this happy, but she didn't care. She only cared about what was here right now.

"Uh..." Rachael looked at Fei with a bit of a blush before she closed her eyes and opening her mouth, going "Ahhh" as Fei guided the spoon into her lovers mouth. She closed her mouth on the spoon, greedily licking up the contents within her mouth before Fei gently pulled out the spoon. Letting the sweet cream melt in her mouth she reopened her eyes and looked at Fei with a gleeful smile. "Your turn!" she said before taking a spoonful of ice cream and hovering it in front of Fei. "Say ah." Rachael said as she waited for Fei to open her mouth, in which she would proceed to feed her companion some of the sweet chocolate covered ice cream and remove the spoon from her mouth after a short moment.
