The Practice Arena

Beacon Academy's practice arena. It stands as a shining example of what students need to hone their skills. The arena is a large outdoor area in the shape of your typical colosseum. The walls are white washed and the ground is standard turf. In one section of the arena is a melody of work out equipment for students to increase their physical prowess, in another is training dummies for them to strike, and still more are various apparatus to create obstacles to test the students skills. When used together these things allow the students to practice different techniques and maneuvers. If it can be used to practice, you can be sure Beacon has or will provide it.

Off to the side of the arena is Colin Costen. He has out his faithful rifle and is standing before a 3' block with a tire placed vertically on top. On the other side of the block is a dummy made to withstand gun fire. Colin prepares to practice this move once again. He runs forward towards the block and makes the leap. Jumping through the tire hands first he aims the rifle at the dummy and fires 3 shots, quickly working the lever action of the rifle. All 3 shots meet their target. Colin pulls in his rifle and forms a ball and rolls as he hits the ground. Coming out of the role he comes up into a standard kneeling firing position and fires 2 more shots at the dummy. Finally he had done it perfectly. He rests for a moment and gets back up to continue doing it until it's consistent.

Aeden takes careful aim at the dummy in front of him, forming a plan that would create the maximum damage. Wielding Deception in his hand Aedan sends well placed blasts of dust straight toward the dummy's limbs and head. Immediately after mobilizing the enemy Aeden darts toward the dummy with a plan in mind. Striking with the pommel Aeden shatters the ice that encases the dummy. Thanks to the ice, parts of the dummy seem to break even considering their durability. Aeden takes note of this property of ice dust to weaken its target. Aeden sets up again preparing another plan in his mind.

Dante looks over the others in the arena, watching each of them for a few moments. He couldn't complain about them for being showy, but... showy doesn't let you live in the heat of battle. Well, not showiness alone. He grins to himself, sliding Zorro de las Sombras off his back, spinning it and watching the blades rotate around. The light bounces off his blade, the surface of it like liquid silver in the sun, polished and primped, so to speak. Great work required great pride, after all...

Running down a lane, he brandishes his axe, a dummy popping up not too far in front of him. Leaping up, he spins and brings his axe downwards onto the poor target, forcing it back down. Two more dummies pop up. Shifting his stance, he leverages the axe back up into the air, smacking one down, and following through with the momentum to strike the other. Panting, he lifts his axe, slinging it over his shoulder as he walks his way back to the start of the lane. The sound of shattering ice catches his attention, seeing a dummy in its last moments of existence before breaking apart. He smirks, tilting his head to either side and creating audible snaps. "Gotta keep yourself up to snuff, Dante," he mutters to himself.

After Kaitlyn practices on a few dummys, she mutters "This is easy and time consuming... I need a friendly spar with someone"

Kaitlyn looks around and watches a young male demolish a target and decides to ask him to spar.

Colin overhears the sparring request and decides to take a break to see what these students can do.

As Lucina approaches the practice arena she sees many students sparring with each other. She enters the arena to see I empty at the moment. She shrugs her shoulders and moves into the center of her circle. Sparring dummies pop up all around as she prepares Celente for practice. She thrusts her weapon into a dummy and says "wow this is lame, I need a real opponent" She strides off rolling her eyes.

Before he can get into position Aeden notices a tall girl walking around looking bored. He figures this is a great opportunity for some live practice of his new strategy. Aeden decides to walks up to the girl and introduces himself. "Hello I'm Aeden".

"Hi, I'm Lucina. She holds out her hand for him to shake." So where are you from?" She asks

Aeden shakes her hand. "Just from a small town in the area" "How about yourself?"

"Vale. Born and raised" She says."Hmm...he seems nice" She thought and wanted to get on the topic of weapons. "So that's a nice looking dagger you have there. Got any tricks up your sleeve?" She asks with a laugh.

"Haha, well I just might but I'm not really one for lectures, I think a little sparring may offer more answers. What do you say?" Aeden asks with a smile already processing a plan against Lucina.

"Yea lets dance!" She says excitedly unveiling Celente from its shroud and transforming it into its bow form loading readying an arrow and pointing it at Aedan.

Aeden has a look of surprise. "A bow huh okay gonna have to modify this plan" he thinks to himself. "Umm okay how about you take that side and Ill take this side and on the count of three we start. Agreed?"

"Agreed" She says and walks over to the left side of the arena.

Aeden makes his way to the other side of the arena. "Alright 1, 2, 3!!" Aeden fires a barrage of ice dust in the direction of Lucina aiming for her limbs just as he practiced.

Lucina makes a hand sign familiar to most. She is using aura. At the blink if an eye she disappears for but a moment and reappears in the same place. The dust hits the arena wall and fades. Lucina draws her weapon and loads it again pointing straight at Aeden. She thought to herself" I shouldn't have wasted my blink. Ill have to wait for my aura to charge up to use it again."

"WHAT. THE. HECK. WAS .THAT!!!" This was far beyond his calculations Aeden starts to panic."No." he thinks to himself "Stay calm you have to focus." He begins preparing another plan but fails to notice a weapon being pointed at him.

Lucina powers up the dust infuser on her weapon and sets the infuser to power her arrows with explosive dust. She fires an arrow at Aeden to see how he will react.

Colin moves over to the commotion between Aeden and Lucina. Feeling excited he yells, "Anyone else want to spar?"

Aeden finnaly notices Lucina firing and has to react. He is barely able to form an ice wall using Deception but the arrow seems to explode causing the wall to shatter. Aeden decides close combat is not sutible. He once again fires ice dust burst but uses it as a distraction to move in closer.

The ice dust attack splashes on Lucina blinding her vision. She rubbs her eyes trying to regain her lost vision as she sees a figure moving in on her position. She transforms Celente to a shortsword. It is already powered by explosive dust thus creating a small explosion on impact. She blindly rushes toward the figure slashing at random.

Through the dust Aeden can make out a figure swinging wildly. An idea comes to mind. Aeden stays close to the ground to make use of Lucina's stature and gets in close when a swing comes straight down towards him. "Perfect" Aeden points Deception's pommel up and shoots ice dust at Lucina's feet from the blades tip. Then he blocks the swing with the pommel causing the trigger in the pommel to fire causing Lucina to stumble. Aeden uses this opportunity to sneak behind Lucina.

As Lucina regains her vision she quickly reacts even after stumbling and strikes behind her. ( I will be AFK for about 30 minutes we can finish the fight then)

Alder enters the arena, realising practice has begun. He notices a spar is commencing, he watches with much intent knowing Ozpin will want him to train this year

Aeden is able to block Lucina's swing but not without having his left arm go numb. "Quite the heavy hitter arent you" Aeden focuses his aura into his legs in order to increase his speed and charges for Lucina before she readies her sword aiming for a vital spot. (No problem)
