The El*er Scrolls [Event] [Team AMBR]

".....Really?" Robin said, placing her head in her palms and looking rather irritated, "Guys, just start shooting at everything in there. I don't really care at this point."

"Well...OK then," said Axel. He cocked Spite and prepared to open fire.

"Time to have some fun then," Byron chuckled as he deployed Thanatos to weapon mode and points both guns at the clearing.

"Hey, you guys are gonna blow up the temple? Don't do that! You'll damage my stuff!" The voice echoes from the structure in the center of the clearing, now fully calmed from before. Just after, a very faint voice can be heard from the same direction, this time coming from a female. Its quite difficult to make out, however. After another very brief pause, the male voice comes through again. "Bah, fine. I'll tell them. You also might damage the scroll you're looking for. See? I'm helping!"

David waited a few seconds. Wait a minute. Hey you in the temple. Do you like potatoes?" David thought the voice sounded like the loony at the hospital. The one going on about someone taking his potatoes. "Follow up question. We're you put in the hospital at all after a event at a coffee shop?"

A few moments pass, but you don't hear a reply to either question. Just an occasional munching sound.

However, you do hear some creature moving in the distance, across the clearing. It looks like a grimm, possibly a boarbatusk. Its hard to see clearly, but its moving fairly slowly. It doesn't appear to be attacking or anything.

David pulls out a snack he packed up for the event. It was a bag of potatoes chips. "If you come out you can have them." He said shaking the bag.

There is silence for a few moments, but then the voice speaks. "Are those chips? Why are you guys taking a... " A pause, followed by chewing sounds, before he finishes his statement. "...break! You'll run out of time you know!"

Those with exceptional perception and awareness hear something behind them. A crunched leaf being stepped on maybe? But there's nothing behind you. At least nothing visible.

"....Run." Robin said, beginning to walk towards the temple, "Like right now. RUN."

David looked back and saw nothing. "Ambush MOVE!" David said making a run for the temple watching for traps. What did they say about mines. Hear a click and stop. Screw it I'm running.

"Pew!" The voice echoes out from the temple, heralding a faint, distance gunshot. The round flies in front of the team, striking the ground in front of them and sending up large amounts of smoke very quickly. The smoke column is not very large, but the smoke is spreading and making it impossible to see the traps ahead. The gunshot echo rang out from the opposite side of the clearing... but it was extremely far away. Perhaps even on the large, but distance rock formation in that direction.

Byron had already taken a good visual of the visible traps before this smoke screen was shot down. The downside to Wonderland was that Byron could not see the real world either so he made it a habit to memorize the layout of whatever area he may be in just in case. Keeping a strong image of what the area looked beforehand, Byron takes some steady steps into the smoke screen towards where the temple should be, swerving and stepping away from where ever he remembered a visible trap being. It would be a different issue if a hidden trap was anywhere within this though.

"Hm~ this guy needs to cut down on the smoking," Byron comments out loud as he stretches his leg to step over where he imagined a trap was.

Axel started firing at the empty space behind them, hoping to provide cover fire as the team ran towards the temple. As he walked towards the temple, he did his best to match Byron's movement, but the smoke was making it hard to see him, let alone the traps.

"Ugh." Robin groaned as they began to move through the death course, they didn't have time for this, Whatever that thing is, it's on our tail. We don't have time to wait around, we gotta to sprint this.

"Byron, we need to speed up. How good of a shield can that coffin be?"

"Six inches thick of re-enforced titanium plating with a layer of polycarbonic thermo plastic laminated glass," Byron stated as he stepped to the right to avoid a pitfall he remembered being there, "And painted with six coats of rosso corsa tinted with a bit of OU crimson. That answer your question?"

Robin smiled, "Yes. Yes it does. Get ready to charge. Axel and David, shoot down anything that comes from the sides. Let's sprint this."

"If you say so," Byron murmurs as he slipped off Thanatos slides the straps over his right arm like a shield. Using his other hand to keep it straight, Byron keeps it in front of him. Without a word, Byron sprints forward at full charge.

"If I die I want you to scatter my ashes in the wind from the highest mountaaaaiiin!" Byron yells back as he runs.

Robin motioned for the rest to follow Byron, "Just be sure to watch out for pit falls and beartraps! We'll worry about the rest!" She called after him, matching his pace.

The team forms up with Byron in the lead as the shield, the others bringing up the rear. As they quickly begin charging forward, hopefully following Byron's footsteps closely, they clear through the smoke with ease. Reaching the halfway mark, another "Pew!" is heard, followed by the same gunshot. This one, however, struck the ground somewhere near the middle of the party, and exploded with a concussive blast, knocking Byron and Robin forward, and Axel and David backward and to the sides. The blast didn't send anyone flying, but maintaining one's balance after such a blast would be a great feat. Anyone who falls lands in or activates a trap[Which trap it is I will leave up to you because why not].

Only an instant later, another gunshot follows, landing in front of the party and sending up smoke, just like the first one. At this rate, the whole area will be covered.

The blast caught Byron off guard and the force caused him to fall forward into a pit trap. With Thanatos in front of him, the weapon more or less cushioned the fall. Trying to sling Thanatos back over his back and stand up straight in the pit trap, Byron starts digging his fingers into the walls and tries to climb up.

"My my, I'm starting to fall for this guy," Byron chuckles as he climbs up the wall.

Robin, for her part, manged to land without any real problems thanks to her agility. That being said, she landed in the same pit as Byron. However, unlike Byron, she had a quicker way out.

"Sorry." Robin said, glowing bright red, "Both for the bad plan...and this." She gently touched Byron's leg.

And Byron was sent flying out of the pitfall with an audible bang.

David stumbled back and stepped in a Ursa trap. He let out a blood curdling yell. "GOOD GOD THIS HURTS!!!" He tried with all his might to escape the trap. He used his wing to open it. He got free and looked at his bloody leg. He tried to move put to no avail. Can't move hurts

Axel landed on his side. Having fainted earlier, there was little chance that he would be able to keep his balance. As he got up, he heard the whip of a taut chord suddenly released as a number of sharpened bamboo stakes whistled toward him. "What the hell?" He reactively put up an aura shield in the shape of small crystalline wall. After the sustained barrage, one pierced his shield and struck his shoulder. Luckily, it hit his armored spaulder and did not penetrate. Still, the impact hurt and his shoulder went momentarily numb.

It appears the smoke rounds don't last terribly long. The smoke from the first one has begun clearing slowly, allowing vision through it, although its tough to make anything out. There appears to be movement on the other side, outside the field of traps.

With all the excitement, that wandering boarbatusk can be seen still outside the field as well. It appears to have enough intelligence to not blindly run through the traps, so it appears to be waiting, as it stares at the members of Team Amber.

With Byron being thrown out of the pitfall he was knocked into, he looks to land. He wasn't thrown too high... but it was just high enough to get him out of one pit... and straight toward another. He can probably avoid landing in the second one with some cleverness.

Axel and David are both down, but Axel's wound is minor at worst. David, on the otherhand, looks to be needing help from his allies. There is no response from the extremely mysterious voice from the temple, nor are there any further gunshots.

Byron sees that he is about to land into another hole and thinks as fast as he can.

He deploys Thanatos to full weapon mode. His descent causes causes the mantle of blades to lift up until they were parallel to the ground. Each blade is about six feet long and the semi-circular mantle had a radius of roughly 1.5 feet. As long as the hole did not exceed 15 feet in diameter, the mantle of swords should catch on the edge of the pit and keep Byron from completely falling in.

If successful, Byron would have Thanatos transform back to passive form and use the mechanical force of the blades pushing straight to lift himself up and lift his legs to plant firmly on the edge of the pit trap and push himself onto the ground.

Robin couldn't resist a slight chuckle as Byron sailed through the air like an heavily armored rabbit bird thing.

Anyway, time to get out of this mess herself. She had a much less fancy way of getting herself out of the pit then Byron's importune flight.

Namely, running up the side of the pit and reaching the top that way. Boring, but practical.

Robin's attempt to run out of the pit failed, as the dirt gave way and she slipped, sliding back down. Her second attempt was a success, however, got her safely out and allowed her to check the status of her team. They were in disarray, with one of them nearly being tossed back into another pitfall, only to use his weapon to great effect, catching himself and keeping him from falling in. Byron now stands on the edge of the pit, his weapon in passive mode. He is closest to the temple as it stands, but nobody is able to see it through the smoke coming from the second smoke round that was fired.

Axel is standing up now, having blocked several spikes shot at him by a trap by making excellent use of his aura and armor. David, however, is not in such a good position. His leg is badly bleeding, and he is trying to move but appears unable to.

The highly mysterious voice echoes through the smoke screen once more. "Hey, I got you guys! Don't forget that you can give up at any time! I won't hold it against ya! Although, you might fail the test or whatever." A faint sound can be heard as he finishes speaking, the sound of a round being chambered in a bolt action rifle, for those who could recognize that sound.
