The Second Initiation Ball (Open)

Kyri grabs a cup and puts punch into it before holding up the glass to propose a toast to the others. She didn't really know the two guys in front of her, but she knew Mao, and they had all made it through initiation together. She was sure that she would be seeing these two for the next four years of her life as she became like her mother, another legendary Huntress.

"Yeah! We all Survived and now our lives here at Beacon begin! To the next four years of our lives!"

When Kyri grabbed a glass and filled it Tyler did the same, glad the punch was safe now. Then when she rose her glass and made a toast Tyler did the same, raising his glass with a smile. To being the best we can be. was all he added to her toast.

Matt grabs his cup and raises it too. Hear hear!

Mao watched the other three before raising his cup as well. Hopefully all goes well, but we'll just have to see what happens.

With the cups raised into the air Kyri smiles and laughs a little before taking a sip of her drink. Though she felt out of place in her clothes she definitely was starting to have fun. She brought her cup down to her waist and then looked over to the DJ before raising a hand to the group to show that she would be right back. It only took her a moment to cut through the crowd and make her way back to the group. She smiled as the song she requested started to come on.

When Kyri took a drink Tyler did the same. Now he was glad they had replaced the punch, it was really good. Then when she left to make a request and it came on Tyler smiled, it was his mom's favorite song, so he knew the song nearly by heart. He had respect for this one now, she didn't seem like the type to listen to this kind of music.

Indigo drops her head to the table. "It's not like I can help it or anything." She overhears a bunch of other students toasting and laughing. She picks her head up, propping it up on her arms. "At least they're having a good time."

At that he glances back toward the others, then to her before standing. "Give me just one minute." He's quick, moving around people, making the most of his slender, almost gangly build to get to the punch and quick get a few cups full before slipping back to the table and sitting down with a very slight smile.

"There's nothing stopping you having a good time either you know." He pushes one drink across to her, raising his own carefully in a black gloved hand. "To us. And whatever teams we end up in." He tries to smile at that, realising full well there was a chance he could end up with complete strangers yet again. But still, he had to do something to cheer her up...

Indigo smiles, blushing slightly. She raises the glass "To us!" She downs the juice in a single gulp and looks around the dance floor. Indigo nibbles at her lip before rising and pulling Drake up from his seat. "Come on, let's dance!"

He barely has time to sip at the drink, nevermind finish it when he is pulled up. It would be quite a sight, the one who was for this whole time dour, serious and through Initiation in control almost looking panicked as he's pulled to his feet. Dance? Dance?!

He follows her, looking almost worried by this for his skills at dancing were lacking and he knew it. But he didn't want to upset her or let her down. There is a slight clink of metal as the cloak twisted about itself. He didn't dance! This was going to be a disaster!

"W-what? Okay..."

"You have quite an interesting taste in music. Not that I mind, of course." Mao smiled before he took a sip of his drink and scanning the room once more. Is that Drake and Indigo? He put up a thumbs-up in the air which was directly aimed at the couple.

Indigo steps out onto the dance floor and does a little twirl, extending a hand for Drake. "Don't tell me you can't dance?"

Kyri smiled up to Mao as he talked about her taste in music. She knew she didn't exactly come across as much more then a pop/love song kind of simple girl, but that was far from the truth as the heavy song played out the chorus.

"Thank you" she said with a smile on her face as she decided to join in with the song for a minute.

A little Evil goes a long long way... We'll live forever, no where not afraid. Daughters of Darkness..." She didn't sing all that loud and she cut it out only after a few lines as she felt she was starting to embarrass herself.

"Well at least this is a good party... I can not dance though... definitely not to this song."

Awkwardly he stands and then rubs the back of his head, trying to regain his composure as he follows Indigo, definitely looking out of place. He also felt somewhat overdressed. Seriously, no one else seemed to be dressed in anything half as formal as what he was wearing.

"I...am not...really one who has done that sort of thing." He had his reasons. But he would make do. He remembered some of the earlier training at other schools mentioning that combat was similar to dancing. Perhaps that was something to be exploited? Carefully he takes her hand, brushing back the cloak for a moment, letting the vanes sort themselves out.

"I can try at least."

Indigo grabs Drakes other hand and pulls him to the center of the dance floor, swinging her hips and arms to the music. "Don't be so stiff! Let loose a little!" She yells over the blaring music. Indigo also takes not of Drake's heavy boots, noting to keep her bare feet away.

"Don't be too embarrassed to sing! You have to let the music control you!" He gulped down the rest of his drink and placed the cup on a table. "You shouldn't restrict yourself. Let yourself be free!"

Hearing that last bit, Mao curiously raised an eyebrow. "Not to this song, eh? Excuse me for a second." Mao walked over to the DJ Booth and chatted with the person inside it for a bit. He actually met the guy once at the Cottage. Finished with his business, he would return to the group, remaining silent except for his whistling.

This was...awkward. The music seemed...to not mesh. Indigo's willingness to just let herself go to the rhythm caused him to swallow nervously. No. Do this. He closes his eyes, letting the music be heard, trying to find a beat..a rhythm he can move to. He was not a dancer. He was a fighter.

The first motions are awkward...clumsy. He is careful to try and avoid her feet as well as trying to avoid being tangled in his cloak at the first few steps. This was terrible. His look kept shifting between panic and disapproval as he tried to make sense of what was going on. Was he supposed to mirror her?

"This is...awkward. Let loose? What?"

Nathaniel snapped back to the real world. He focused of the boy in front of him and immediately wished he was still comatose. Damn. Of all the people he hadn't wanted to run into, who had happened to turn up but Mike bloody Caudex. He tried turning his music up louder but either the player or the headphones were refusing to do so. Now he was really wishing he hadn't broken the old ones. He turned back to Mike, trying to decipher what he was saying. By the looks of things, something about the initiation. He supposed that he'd have to say something at least to shut him up.
"Fine. Uneventful." That should sort it- as long as he didn't just move on to another topic. Nathaniel contented himself with imagining pictures of a mutilated Mike. Perhaps he'd been decapitated, or possible his head had been mulched. He forced the pictures back out of his head- this was exactly the kind of thing he was trying to avoid.

Mike was disappointed at Nathaniel's lack of reply, but it was hardly unheard of.
"Are you really like this all the time? I need to teach you how to be social." He grabbed him by his shirt and dragged him to the buffet table. Then he noticed his Halberd. "Isn't there a "no weapons" rule here?" He said. He grabbed a pile of cookies, and started munching on them, and thrust a few towards Nathaniel.

Nathaniel tensed up as Mike dragged him to the table. It was only with an extreme effort of will that he restrained himself from lashing out. Calm. Stay... calm. He knew they were all students and nothing more, and he knew he was more than a match for any of them, but no matter what he told himself he couldn't help but feel extremely vulnerable. He was surrounded. Anyone could do anything, and he might not see it in time.
Nathaniel took one of the cookies offered to him. He didn't like it, but he had to admit that he was hungry. As was often the case with him, he'd forgotten to feed himself and hadn't eaten since the pizza the night before.
"Isn't there a 'no weapons' rule here?" Nathaniel shrugged. Truth be told, he barely thought of Teres-Aris anymore. It was like an extension of himself, his few good attributes dredged up from the depths of his history as the multitude of bad ones were forgotten. Teres-Aris was him, but better. "Possibly."

"Just let go!" Indigo's spirits were much higher than before. She let go of Drake's hands momentarily to twirl on one foot before reaching back to him.

OOC stuff:

Ozpin stepped onto the stage pausing and talking to the DJ for a moment before walking out to the center of the stage. A member of the beacon guard brought a microphone out to the stage in front of him. The music fadded out and a couple spot lines shone onto Ozpin.

"Welcome Students, I hope that you are enjoying the festivities." He looked across the crowd occupying the cafeteria, all eyes were on him. "But I feel it's time to announce the teams from the most recent initiation since that is why we are here. So without further ado."

A pair of large screens turned on on the walls displaying the Beacon logo. "First: Indigo Evans, Cain Noctis, Drake Ferrox and Straudd Kinclain" As he said each name their picture appeared on screen. Additionally a spot light was shone on each one of them. "You four will be Team Discord," their photos rearranged themselves with the letters DISC displayed below them, "you will be lead by Drake Ferrox." A round of applause sounded around cafeteria.

The screen cleared and returned to the Beacon logo. "Next: Kyri Tredama, Mao Visorith, Matt Nightingale, and Tyler Yamasaki." Like last time the pictures showed up on the screen one by one and they had a spot light shone on them. "You four will be Team Midnight, lead by Kyri Tredama." The pictures rearranged themselves on screen and the letters MNYT displayed below them. Another round of applause sounded across the cafeteria.

"And last but certainly not least" Ozpin said as the screen cleared again to the Beacon logo. "Mike Caudex, Markus Grimm, Nathaniel Dispar, and Lucius Cole." Their pictures appeared on screen as spotlights were shone on them. "You will be Team _______, lead by ________" Their photos rearranged themselves on screen and the letters _____ appeared below them. Another round of applause sounded for the final team.

The screens returned to Beacon logos before switching back off. "I welcome you all to Beacon and hope to recieve the best we can from you." Ozpin said recieving a round of applause as he walked off stage, the music fading back in.

Silva lifted her head from her hands as Ozpin walked off the stage. She felt sick and her head still ached from the pain. She stood up carefully and walked out of the cafeteria back to her room "I need some medicine" she quietly said to herself walking down the hall, hoping that Tengen and Kidal would be able to get back on their own.

Of course, Indigo's mood was improving. That was all he needed. He smiled a little and took a deep breath. Just let go. Well, he couldn't quite let go. A twirl would be awkward with his cloak. He had to do something though. These...awkward movements were not suiting him.

When she reaches to him he fidgets, looking somewhat awkward about the situation but he moves to take her hands...and the proceeds to look more puzzled as the music fades. This was different. Different.

And he turns, looking toward Ozpin, his confused expression shifting to something more serious in response. An announcement...

Yet the result of the announcement could almost be seen on his face. Shock. Alarm. And when the light is shone on him...when he is announced as the team leader...for the briefest of moments, fear.

Mike turned at the sound of Ozpin's voice. When his team appeared, he turned back to Nathaniel.
"Great! We're on a team together! And Markus! And... I have no idea who Lucius is, but I'm sure he's a great guy!" He rejoiced, as he slapped Nathaniel on the back. "Is it ok if I call you Terry? Nathaniel is a bit annoying." He asked, before realising that neither Markus nor Lucius had turned up. "Hey, where are markus and Lucius? They need to know the teams." He said, turning back to his food.

Nathaniel froze. They'd stuck him with who? His gaze slowly drifted over to the boy next to him. Who here was the only person he'd probably end up murdering within the first week? Who here was the only person who had nearly caused him to lose control within the first five minutes of his arrival? They had to know. They had to have know all that when they sorted the teams. It was some kind of sick joke they were playing on him.
His usual fear at being on display before the crowd was drowned out by a sudden wave of anger. His head started pounding, his ears started ringing, black spots began to accumulate before his eyes. This was bad. This was very bad. Not caring how he appeared to anyone, he turned and sprinted out of the room, Teres-Aris in hand. He had to get out of here now, before he lost it completely. Mike was a moron and an asshole, but he still didn't deserve to die. Nathaniel made a beeline straight for the cliffs which had led to the emerald forest. He was going to go and vent his anger on some Grimm. That had seemed to work pretty well last time.

Indigo's ears perk at the sound of Ozpin's voice. Her name is heard and she listens intently to find out her teammates; she already knew who one of them was, of course, but the rest were unknown and exciting. Standing next to Drake, she looks up smiling when she hears his name, assigning them on the same team. When she hears that he will be the team's leader, she hugs him as best as she could, given their height difference, congratulating him.
